Not 100% sure it's a motherboard problem.

Hi everyone. I own a Sabertooth intel motherboard. Today my computer shut town while playing games.

I believed it at first to be an overheating problem since it was a hot day and the bottom fan of my Antec 1200 is broken. But after vaccuuming my case (dust isnt that bad). and letting everything cool. My computer will start up for a half a second and then shut off.

I've done the paper clip test on my PSU and it still works. And I also noticed that the motherboard fans cooling the chipsets were the only fans not spinning up for a breif second on startup.

After disconnecting the RAM, GPU, and resetting the CMOS. The problem still remains. And I should add that I havn't had the same result over and over.

One time on the power button being pushed, all my fans started except the mobo ones. And at a very high speed.

Another time, just the mobo fans started and everything else including the LED's did not.

And just a moment ago. All my fans started even mobo ones. And thne the computer shut off after 2-3 seconds.

After pushing the power button and shutting -

What. Okay now i smell ozone coming from the lower right backside of my PSU. Right where a copper coil is..

Sorry this post seems all over the place. But I really have no idea what to do.

Yup. Def ozone coming from PSU. I had my hand on the PSU corner of the case when i was switching power off and on. And the fans must have pushed the air onto my hand. Which is why my left smells like ozone and my right is normal.

So. I'm unsure of what to do. If theres mkre tests I can run or troubleshooting please let me know. Because I'm thinking the PsU or mobo died. I think its the mobo because of mini usb fans not spinning up half the time. And I think its the PSU because of it smelling like ozone in the bottom right. However.

I also wish its the motherboard so I dont have to shell out moulah for a new one and I can clajm RMa but I also think the PSu is weird since it passed the paperclip test.

I bought my mobo this year. And my PsU is 4 years old. Very clean used properly etc.

Any ideas my friends? /
