Need helping choosing the right build

For my aunty, uses it for email, microsoft word, internet, pretty much the average daily uses of a computer.
And her daughters also play Sims. The newest sims games being Sims3 has shown signs of struggle with her current computer.
Most likely because her computer is just below the minimum requirements to run the game.

Anyway, I can buy my parts from, Centrecom. Are having a sale.
And playing game on a mintor that's roughly 1280x900 mresolution, I believe the integrated graphics will be enough for a while.

The options or builds I have made, are in similar price to eachother. Im simply thinking about going with the newest i5-4430 CPU due to CentreCom's special. It has a 3.0GHz base and 3.2GHz turbo clock and has better integrated graphics than a i5 3570k but has 3.8GHz turbo and 3.4GHz base clock, and is a great CPU when paired up with a Graphics card.

Here are the options in screen shots.

Basic parts we will need regradless:

CentreCom's bundle special with the latest Intel CPU i5-4430 CPU and 8GB Ram a Gigabyte Z87-D3h 1150 Motherboard for $399. But the CPU is 3.2GHz compared to the i5 3570K. And only interested in this bundle because of the improved Integrated graphics that might hold out longer thus saving buying a graphics card for awhile. Remember, the resolution is roughly 1280x900 or soemthing like that...

Bringing the total cost to $627 with the other parts. Case, SSD, power supply.

i5 3570K with hd 4000 graphics, 1x 4gb ram leaving room for another 4gb stick but Im failry confident she will not need to upgrade as I use 2.86GB with several tabs open and skype and Microsft word out of my 2x4GB kingston ram.
And a motherboard that will do the job and is a Z77 board in case we ever need to overclock but I doubt it. And only goign for this processor because it will last and is great for gaming if we add a Graphics card in the future.

Only change is 8GB ram. total of $640 compared to the current Bundle with the latest Intel Cpu @ 3.2GHz and better integrated graphics for $627

I might wait it out a little bit incase the i5 3570K cpu decides to drop in price but until then I would really liketo hear what other people think.

Also we are recyling her current DVD/CD drive and Harddrive [/SIZE]

I think I would go with the 4430 as she will see the most improvement from the SSD and why go backwards if the price is less.

This is OVERKILL for what your aunt wants..

She would be fine with an Athlon X2 with a GPU for all that it matters

Given her needs.. unless you have another reason to go Intel there's simply no reason

go for

Case : A $50 case is far too much for what she'll use.. but if want a new one

Pls Don't Buy Me $43

CPU : Any AMD FX 4300-6300 or Trinity APU if no Want Video Card (around $66 us or AUS) ->

Trinity

MOBO Cheapo $99

RAM Again Overkill but also Futureproof smile.gif $45

PSU Any 400 w PSU should do but in case she ever needed a GPU I'm here $45

SSD She doesn't need an SSD but since you wanted one $99

Total $382

and slightly similar in Cart Pic

PLEASE Do not buy such an expensive setup when it is not needed smile.gif (yes I just saved you $300)

1) This APU (or CPU with internal GPU) will perform better for less than Intel
2) Will cost you around a third of the price
3) Can be used in tandem with a GPU if you ever decided to get one
4) The money you save now could be used later for an upgrade or simply your piggy bank smile.gif

5) In short intel is FAR too expensive for what you need done (simple gaming and every day e-mail and youtube) (this whole package being cheaper than the processor combo)

@tupamaro16

I'm not so sure about AMD. Yes, I simply laid outt hat build mostly because of Itnel and the fact that I've only built 2 intel systems ever, and I started buildign this year.

Yea that AMD CPU has enough power - 3.6GHz it says. But i don't know......and are they overclockable? just wodnering.

I would like to get her a SSD, just to make it go faster for the sake of it.

And I just relized the AMD CPU is a Dual Core? no THANKS. Yea she may not need a Quad core, but it will keep it futureproof for awhile.
How about replacing the CPU with a quad core for em please?
And COuld I still use a Nvidia graphics card in it such as a gtx650ti boost or a gtx640ti @GB or higher without exceding $200 or our whole budget of - not over $700 - not includign Operatign system.

Thanks,

An AMD APU is the way forward here get the higher end one like the 5600k or 5800k it has more than enough CPU power for the uses listed and easily enough integrated graphics power for the uses and resolutions listed (better than Intels IGP). Or if Intel an i3 or Pentium. i5 is ridiculous overkill for the listed uses (sims 3 at 1280X900). Build a computer that meets the users needs not your needs it will save everyone $$$.

Here's half that price and still overkill for its intended usage
