Air/Water Suggestion

I am off to college in a few months, would like to downsize from my custom water loop even though I love it.

One part of it is a new case, I'm downsizing to a mid-tower.

What would you recommend for a cooler, whether is a air or a closed-loop water for a mid-tower case?

i7 3930k, Rampage IV Formula

Case is undecided atm.

That case is just about perfectly spaced for everything: very well designed. It won't allow full ATX, but the Asus Gene boards are Micro-ATX. You can drop a 180 rad in the front. Also, keep in mind that 180x180 = 32400 and 240x120 = 28800, so your single rad will be between a 240 and 360, which is enough for both CPU and GPU, but SLI GPU would be pushing it.

If you wanted to go even smaller, you could look into a mini-ITX build instead. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811163208

The formula isn't a micro-atx board.

So you already bought a formula? Then just ignore my suggestions as you'll obviously need a much bigger case.

I definitely have to recommend the Cooler Master 690 II Advanced.

Once your ready to start water cooling again, this case is very mod friendly and looks amazing with a 360 rad up front in vertical position. Or with just two 240's. The case is also cheap! thumb.gif

In terms of air cooling, I'm not sure if the Hyper 212 is still on the top of the list for air cooling, but it is what I would recommend. I've read to many horror stories of the Corsair closed loop systems busting on people, so if I were you, I'd stay away from them.

The CM Storm Enforcer - Gaming Mid Tower is working well for me.

The Noctua NH-C14 fits well enough, although it does cover and also cool the ram.
