Use a towel damp it with water then clean it. Are your using white or black one ? White cloth mouse pads aren't a good choice unless it a hard surface which are much easier clean

I always cleaned my QCK+LE with water and the gliding is the same as always. Or better.

Utter BS. But if you wanna stay safe you could avoid soaps and scratching (brushes), water should be enough if you haven't done anything weird with it.
