[NW] Mozilla Planning Major Redesign With Firefox 25 - Page 5

Loving the redesign to app tabs though. More browsers need to do stuff like this for common sites like twitter and pandora.

You can already do "app" tabs in the current Firefox version. Just right-click an open tab and pin it.

I'm liking the new style and should be able to experience it in about 12 weeks since I use Aurora which is Firefox 23 atm. Hopefully I can enable the Aero effect for this new UI design. I'm currently resorting to using a stylesheet to add Aero to Firefox.

Those are pinned tabs AKA app tabs, not quick launch buttons, not bookmarks. This feature has been there for a long time now. Also in chrome for a long time. Try it out, right click your tab
and click pin tab.

As for complaining about version numbers and "constant updates".....kookoo.gif Chrome launches new versions every 6 weeks as well, with often less features then what Firefox comes with, just look at the release notes. No one complains about that do they?? Either because it's the almighty "Google Chrome" or because for some reason the media doesn't report on it as often so you don't realise.

As for the new design, I like the idea of getting rid of the orange Firefox button, makes the look cleaner and more uniform across different platforms. BTW, a similar design if not same, is already in use in Mozilla's Thunderbird.

Oh, and those of you who keep saying "I hate change", stop using computers. Software and hardware are always changing, adding new features, looks, etc.

As someone who's uses mozilla browsers since they began , I am cool with the new tabs , but I hope it doesn't get to much more similar to chrome. I'd use internet explorer or opera before I'd use Chrome.

I'm just going to sit on the fence with this one until I use it. Firefox 21 is so far my favourite one to date. (I like the new quick access to Downloads next to the search box. inb4 "Ctrl + J" noob rolleyes.gif) I do use Chrome often to log into a 2nd gmail account simultaneously, but I won't be doing anything crazy like "switching" just because of some UI changes unless they prove to be completely unacceptable.

Who gives a crap about a slightly different UI. Mozilla needs to focus on cutting the recent bloat and rolling out 64 bit firefox. The difference between firefox and chrome can be measured in seconds.

Same on both counts.

You know what the great thing is about open source projects such as Firefox? You can do so yourself, or others can do it for you such as: Waterfox.

No, not really.

doh.gif oh mozilla. you once used to be so great, and so original. there are many things we take for granted now that you originated, and now, all you do is copy off chrome, which ends up being such a much better browser.

They are still going to support XP? Couldn't they just kill support to make migration to Windows 7 or 8 faster?

I don't have a problem with any of this. Looks fine to me.

But.. I really would like the speed of Chrome in Firefox. I use Firefox more often than Chrome simply because Firefox is open source and I like open source stuff.

But when I'm in Windows, the speed difference is big enough for me to solely use Chrome.
