Using headphones with subwoofer - Question on how to

Thread Starter
Right now I have the following setup:

Dayton B652 speakers
Dayton DTA-100A amp
Dayton Sub-1200

R+L Out have banana plugs that go to my sub's high level input. If I plug headphones into the amp it cuts off all audio and only plays through my headphones. I'd really like to game with headphones but get the sick bass my sub puts out. How can I accomplish this? I have Sennheiser HD202s and a 3.5mm to 5mm adapter.

Never tried it... but maybe a splitter off of the headphone jack, one going to your headphones the other going to rca audio cables for the sub? Not sure how it would sound tho. Ghetto riggin.

That crazy idea could actually work and I think I even have the splitter for it. I'll try that out later today! thumb.gif

For anyone else wondering: connect one of these to your sound card's output, then plug in your headphones to one split, and a 3.5mm cable to the other split, which then runs to your amp/sub/etc.

How do you like your setup by the way? I made a thread asking for a budget system awhile back but others told me not to get your setup due to the poor quality of the speakers? Would you buy that setup again? I am very annoyed wearing a headset everyday.

I would definitely buy it again, and I'd even buy a 5.1 receiver with another set of the same speakers for the rear. I don't see how anyone can say they're poor. They're obviously not the best; $30 can't buy you the best. But they're leaps and bounds better than a lot of higher cost speakers. I came from Logitech Z5500s, it was a huge step up regardless of losing 5.1. Don't even get me started with the sub. It's impressed a few car audio enthusiasts that I know that initially bashed me for buying a "Dayton" brand setup lachen.gif

Well I am sold, seems like the best "bang for the buck" setup to me.

It is, and that little Dayton amp should be enough to power Polks/whatever "next step up" speakers you might want if you don't like the Daytons long term. In that worst case you lose ~$40 you spent on the Daytons (before selling them of course). For less than $300 it's very powerful bass with pretty bright sound. I'm not a headphone fan myself but after playing BF3 last night with my Sennheisers I kind of liked it; just need some basssss!!!

I am a very HAPPY owner of the Logitech G930 headset... FAIL. Not comfortable and loses signal constantly. Ready to ditch these and get some speakers! Jealous of your headphones tho!

They're only the 202s. Pretty good sound but not all that great, weak on bass. I bought them years ago for my guitar setup.

Wait those splitters reduce sound quality on both devices, maybe because of half power for each device, so you could need a beefy amp or maybe 2
