Anyway, even if you happen to like the plot, it still doesn't change the fact Zelda isn't story-driven and has never been. More often than not, you'll stray away from the plot to focus on other things that have nothing to do with it. You don't play it because you absolutely want to discover how the story unfolds, you play it to explore, find the new shiny items in dungeons and solve the puzzles. You want to fight the epic bosses at the end of the temples and find the collectibles and their rewards. For most people, story in Zelda is at the bottom of the list for the reasons they play. It is not a story-driven game. It's too open and there are too much exploration going on for it to be a plot-focused experience.
It doesn't become harder to innovate. There's plenty to discover and do in video games that hasn't been done before. Also, I do have a preference for open-ended game but it doesn't mean I dislike linear games inherently. I dislike Uncharted because aside from the ''wow factor'' this game is sub par. Weak shooting, dumb AI, no creativity to take down enemies, short, easy and ridiculously repetitive with retarded puzzles. If you take out the great visuals and leave out the gameplay, it becomes a pile of trash. Zelda or Mario or Metroid would still be great with bad graphics. GTA III would still be groundbreaking with no voice acting and crappy graphics(which it had back then). .

The world in which they created the story is amazing to me. That world is part of the story. The dungeons, the bosses, the cool items are part of that story. To me, story encompasses everything and not just the objective of Person A going to save the world because the story of stopping the evildoer and saving the world has been there since the beginning of time. Every game's story is a cliche. Sure when you think about the plot its boring but the story in itself is not.

The world would fall into the setting. I also agree with most of what you said. Zelda is my favorite series of all time but I can admit one of its weakness is its storyline/plot. It doesn't have you gasp at plot twists, it doesn't do much in terms of foreshadowing, the endings are often predictable and it falls short in character development(except for Midna in TP).

Otherwise I agree. The world is rich, filled with details, the levels are amazing, the bosses and the items are creative and fun to use. Still, my point was that Zelda is not a story-driven game. I don't know anybody who plays Zelda solely for its story. Most people I know often stray far away from the story for hours looking for sidequests and secrets, the others who don't can't wait for the NPC's to S.T.F.U so they can get in the next dungeon and find the next awesome item.

I won't even bother responding to this idiocy. Too bad we don't have negative reps here. How about you counter my arguments instead of being a blatant troll?

We do. It's called reporting. You just don't get to downvote something you disagree with because you disagree with it.

And focusing on quality over quantity is rarely a bad thing, as the scores show.

I wouldn't downvote because I disagree, I would downvote because his post is obvious trolling. I never made the argument of quality over quantity. I simply said the Uncharted series has a mediocre gameplay. People can be wowed by quick-time events and set-pieces all they want, it's not enough when your game mechanics are poor. I hope to God TLOU isn't like that. I hope it actually has a good gameplay and smart AI and doesn't rely on one time pre-determined events to be great.

Trees are as prevalent as zombies after the apocalypse.

How can I take Gamespot's review seriously when they call the creatures zombies?

Anyways, I honestly can't wait for this to come out in 8 days. I've been watching this ever since it was announced, pre-ordered it immediately. This is definitely giving me a reason to bring out my Playstation 3 that I haven't played for a year or two. Reviews look promising, although I do have ONE complaint, about the graphics. I know I haven't played the game yet, but watching a review for the game I can really see jagged edges at some points. Everything else looks truly amazing except for those edges.

Your comment did come off as a typical PC elitist remark.

and what personal opinion was I trying to push?

It's simple: if you haven't even played the game in question or games made by Naughy Dog this generation, how are you basing your judgement that it's impossible for this game to score 10/10?

It's easy to interpret a perfect score as being the perfect game, but as countless of others have already described it, that isn't what the reviewers are trying to convey only that it's the best game at the moment given PS3's limitations so the opinion of shallow AI and mediocre graphics compared to Crysis 3 is pretty moot...hence the reviewrs dont find it big enough of a issue to affect the score.
there's probably a reason why it's releasing after E3...they probably wanna show off more things to hype it up and gain more 1st week sales.
I should've been more clear; the best reviewed games this gen are story driven.
Mass effect; Uncharted, Walking Dead, Bioshock, RDR

Half-Life is also known for its story.

Your argument is similar to one regarding car designs " Why does X car look like car Y? these days" "Where's the innovation?"
You'd think after decades of game development it slowly becomes harder and harder to become groundbreaking in the game mechanics/core and even graphics. So why should only the best scores be given to games that are groundbreaking in that sense? So linear games are 100% disqualified from getting a great score?

Uncharted and presumingly TLOU will be known in the sense for its voice acting, animation, story and graphics for a PS3 which all builds to a generation-defying cinematics....yet they shouldn't be credited for that?

Again, you seem clouded by the judgement for high score because you dislike linear games and a small amount of QTE.

Several people called me out so at some point I had to respond. Nothing about my post had anything to do with games, the platform of specific games or even this game. It was about IGN. Stop making things up and putting words in my mouth.

And that's what you people do. Gang up on and drown out the inividuals and their opinions in packs with the mainstream opinion because the masses cant handle opinions that oppose theirs.

Also uncharted was very average in gameplay. Like all mainstream console games now a days.
