Well then what is perfect if 10/10 (ie. 100%) isn't rolleyes.gif

Why not give every competent game out there a 10/10 if it's meaningless? It's good right? So 10/10! thumb.gif Developers should strive to deliver the absolute best gaming experience possible, a 10/10 but when reviewers start handing them out like they are candy to every decent game out there it loses its meaning. W/E i stopped caring about game scores a long time ago and thank god for that because now I watch reviews for substance not a number and it's clear that this game has issues that the score does not represent on many websites.

W/E i stopped caring about game scores a long time ago and thank god for that because now I watch reviews for substance not a number and it's clear that this game has issues that the score does not represent on many websites.

The two biggest issues cited, the graphics and the AI, are physical limitations of the console the game is on. As far as a game on the PS3 goes, it doesn't get better. Why fault the game for not doing something it legitimately couldn't do? A 256MB/256MB memory structure is crippling.

Additionally, I said the game industry recognizes that a perfect game is an impossibility. There's no reason to have a score for something that can't actually exist. If there was, the only change would be 9, 9.5, or 9.9 to mean the same exact thing as what 10 does currently. 10/10 just says that any flaws the game has aren't detrimental enough to negatively impact the overall experience.

Not sure why it got all 10's(of 10) and 5's(of 5) when it's so linear. Is anyone mentioning it? I hate linear games.
i'd give this game a 10 out of 10 just because you don't see this all game.

bad ai negatively impacts the game though... and i bet that if this was not made by naughty dog it would have gotten a much lower aggregated score. The fact that it was made by the people that made Uncharted carries alot of weight.

Bad ai carriers little weight. It just suck and it personally bugs me to the point of wanting to only rent this. I've been playing games since the atari days and I can only think of maybe 4 or 5 games that had better than average or impressive AI. I have yet to see really good AI in the game with the closets imo being Metal Gear. Unless you count games like chess but with that at times even a players plays similar to a computer so it is hard to differ the two with such limited amount of possible moves.

I'll see if I can explain this more simply for you since you don't seem to be getting it...

10/10 does NOT equal perfect. It means it is (in the opinion of the reviewer) the best out there, at the moment. There is no such thing as a "perfect game." If 10/10 was ONLY given to "perfect games" it would never be used. Thus, at this point, 9/10 would be a perfect score.

The developers clearly "strived to deliver the absolute best gaming experience possible" but of course they are bound within the limitations of the medium they are working in. The PS3 can only do so much. 10/10 means they provided the best gaming experience the system can offer.

Best does NOT equal perfect. It means it's as close to perfect as we can hope to get, or as close to perfect that we have yet to see.

Well, if they made this game specifically for you, your argument might have some merit. But as far as I know, they didn't. So the fact that it's not your type of game has no merit on the quality of the game yourself.

It's like... How can any FPS get a decent score when I don't like FPSes? The perfect FPS is still likely to suck to someone who doesn't like FPSes.

well then wouldn't you say the games that actually have good AI and all the other components that make a great game, should be the ones to actually EARN a perfect score? If they are giving 10/10s to games with bad AI where is the incentive for the devs to improve it?

I love linear games.

I think it's because I enjoy a nice story more than all that "freedom", not that they exclude each other, but most of the time they do.

Makes me think of MGS4, a lot of people hated it, I still think is one of the best games ever made. I loved all the time spent at those 30min cutscenes. It just creates a complete immersion.

I haven't bought a PS3 game in a long time. I don't think I'll pick this one up. Console games are just to expensive. On top of that I have to import them, so it gets worse.

And I'm hyped as hell, I must admit. I think I'll just pick up the GOTG tongue.gif edition.

I think the main point is that despite the apparent AI issues, this is still an amazing game. If the AI issues were an actual problem, they would have deducted points accordingly. But they weren't... so they didn't.

If you want to over complicate things, yes. But again, the 10/10 is in relation to games that have been released, not that mythical "perfect" game that has absolutely no issues whatsoever, and everyone loves.
