Why must the first post about a motherboard supporting a higher clocked cpu instantly start a my epeen is bigger war? rolleyes.gif

Regardless of gaming performance (not everyone just games btw), at 4.8ghz, it's still quite an increase and will show quite a jump, even if it's still not on par in single thread. As long as it's 250 or less (probably going to be around 275-300, though) it'd be a good deal. A 4.8ghz 8350 is a multithreading beast and trust for those who do more than gaming that's great performance for the price.

It better be less than $2,250 tongue.gif

Just pulling your leg.

@ $300 bucks though....if you're aiming for performance, just get an i7 and OC it to like 4.2-4.5ghz...much more maintainable.

Is this a new revision or a totally differnt board ?
Probably better VRM on this board compared to the old model in addition the other UltraDurable 4 features.

Touche on the 2250 wink.gif

That said, I do agree. At $300, unless it comes with some awesome water cooling is not really worth it. Only exception I can see is if you do a lot of rendering and are already on a board that supports it.

My Asrock 970 Extreme 3+ definitely won't with it's VRM setup unfortunately (when I initially planned this build it was an 8120 and a 550ti, so skimped on the board rolleyes.gif) That said, at minimum atleast we will have 'official' benchmark results to see just how much 800mhz does for these cpu's and how they scale since most OC reviews are in the 4.4-.4.6ghz range.

Nothing....

And performance on CPU's doesn't scale linear with clock speed... You better learn that.

Sheeeeesh. Somebody is butt hurt. If they increase the clock without decreasing the IPC, then it should perform relatively good.

Regardless, I'm still waiting for Steamroller till I decide on my next upgrade.

Almighty is such a troll... I can't believe you're still trolling around with the professionalism initiative this website has...

It's obviously going to be a niche product, seeing as it's TDP is rumored at 220W.

Makes this much more interesting if it is a new processor versus a higher clocked Vishera.
