Yep I'm hearing ya. I would not sacrifice all I've done with my OCN account just to keep a $200 item that I would use once.

I still havent given it a crack yet. Im busy editing and uploading videos. But soon I will. By the end of the night lol.

Thing is I've been a guest on OCN for a while just looking at threads without commenting, I only recently decided to make an account, it'd be a bummer to get "turned down" just because I do not meet those requirements.

I understand where you are coming from Remmes. But the Spyder wont be doing a Euro trip just yet. The US tour will be a trial and then Euro bound it will be. So you will have time to build your REP on here. Also its also like a thanks to people that have put back into OCN. They have built their REP by being helpful and sharing knowledge etc. at some point we have to draw the line.

At this stage these are the requirements that have to be approved by me:

15+ REP. (Ideally 30+ REP)
6 Months OCN Member. (Ideally 1 year min)
Your Ebay account will be reviewed.

The only solution I can see is using an ebay account to verify you're good or holding money, which the mods don't allow. I hope something could be worked out, I really want to calibrate all my monitors.

As far as the software issue goes, is it possible to run it off removable storage? If so we could just buy a small USB drive and install the relevant programs on it then send it around with the spyder.

Just my opinion but id say lower rep to 10. If someone wanted to borrow it and was in my boat who doesn't really get that much time to post on OCN and mostly browsers off-topic it would assist them in having a chance in receiving this loan.

Honestly I haven't got a clue - I just know some programs, when installing, have a "portable installation" onto a USB. You just have to try it with a USB plugged in to see what options you get.

Does the elite allow calibration on different computers? If so then its likely to have this portable option.

It may not have the option directly, but allow you to select your USB drive for installation. You'd have to check on another computer to see whether that would work or not.

Otherwise installing linux to a USB drive, and using wine to run the software could work. Boot from USB, create a profile, then boot from HDD, copy profile to your computer, send it on. Or just install the cheapest windows to the USB/external HDD.

I'm really just throwing ideas around - I've never done any of these things before.

To be on the safe side you could email them first, but apparently their customer service is far from good, and they make stringent tests to make sure you are the one who bought it, so a portable installation/a whole OS that you send around could be the only option.

Honestly, there isn't any real good way to prevent someone from keeping it. This all comes down to people acting like adults and being appreciative about being able to use this device.

Like i said before, i've participated in these types of things on car forums with hundreds of people receiving the item over its travels, and nobody tried to bogart it. There were a couple of times where someone had it a couple of days longer than anticipated but that has to be expected, every once in awhile.

If it is going to be travelling, i definitely would like to be on the list. Also, it would be kinda cool to collect a photo journal or something... maybe take an interesting pic, related to where you're at, with the package or something... i dunno, i get a kick out of that stuff.
