My Spyder4Elite Monitor Calibrator Loan Thread - Page 6

I'd be interesting in using it and passing it along on the USA tour. I don't have the join-date history you're looking for, but I have the rep, maintain an active thread here on the Korean PLS monitors, and have a reputable ebay account. Thank you for even entertaining the idea of doing this, its very generous of you!

I haven't even opened the box yet and used myself. But I'm thinking the software will be tied to an email address so I will have to create a general one and hand out the info as needed. We will cross that bridge once I've opened the box and know for sure.

Check the site out. Pretty good!

Don't you have to pay an additional fee to use it with a TV?

I haven't tried with mine (have the Elite also) but I think you need additional software for it to work properly with tv's.

when i was looking for one I think i found out you could only use it for a certain number of monitors and that's what stopped me from getting one.

The Pro* and Elite can be used on multiple monitors and multiple systems; there are cheaper options that like the ColourMunki Smile that work on multiple monitors but I don't think it has as in-depth features as the more expensive colorimeters.

*100% on the Elite, not sure about the Pro but I'd think it would be possible as well*

Brilliant idea but will it work???

Im busy at the moment editing a video and re installing windows on another. I really have to install this Spyder and give it a go.

I don't believe there is any limit on the number of installs a license can be used on; I would assume the license code is attached to the device serial on the first activation; so as long as the colorimeter is the same, the code will work on an infinite number of systems

I dont understand how it works for TV's then??? I think we will have to watch a few youtube videos and work it out. Maybe have the monitors as tvs when using it?

Can you not export an ICC profile? If you can the software isn't needed to use the calibrated settings.

Oh, and I agree that we should pay something - say $5 each, just for you sending it around - and you stop charging that once, say, you'd been given $200. And such a scheme could pay for an external HDD - which seems like the only option for getting this scheme off the ground.

Otherwise thanks for the offer! Maybe someone else can look into a different calibration tool that might allow us to do this.

Profiles are saved here: "C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color"

Once its created the profile, the software or device isn't needed, but it is definitely very useful having your own

well im calibrating my first monitor now. I got it activated now thumb.gif

Just wondering how this will go with nvidia surround?

Also my vg248qe's dont have adjustments like professional monitors. lol what did i expect but I do have 1 - 100 for rgb, brightness and contrast. I cant find anywhere on the net what type of back light I have or the gamut.

Anyways just playing around at the moment

My LG flatron is so faded and dodgy its ridiculous although I'm not sure this will fix the problem. Still, another one for the UK here.

It does seems like the company would have thought of this kind of thing, even amongst friends. Research would be needed.

I'm definitely interested in it as well. A complementary method of vetting members should/could be Heatware rating and Paypal verification. Didn't see that mentioned.

Not sure whether it was mentioned or not but mandatory insurance/tracking should be a thing too.
