Using a Laptop as a Wireless Adapter for a PC

Thread Starter
As the title says, I need to find a way to use my laptop as a wireless adapter for my pc. My family just moved in to a new house, but we have no way of running wires through the house because we have no basement or a way to run them through the ceiling. I know it's possible, I've heard of it being done 1,000 times, but I can't figure it out. I have an ethernet hooked up from my laptop to my pc and my pc is detecting it and says I am hooked up to "Network 4" and claims to have internet, but yet it can't load any webpages at all, they all time out. My laptop has a 54MBps wireless adapter and is running Windows 8 64-bit. Is there any options I have to play with for this setup to work? I have already enabled sharing in my internet's properties, but yet I still have no internet. Please, please someone help, I'd rather not have to pay for an adapter

You need a crossover cable friend which may be pricey depending. You can get wireless adapters for dirt cheap so you might as well save some grief and go from there.

When I did it I never had to use a crossover?

Did you set up a bridge in your "network adapters" yet?

Right click on Ethernet adapters, add to bridge.

Same with wireless adapter.

This is probably the better explanation. It has been a while since I had to do it.

With windows there will be a connection option under the advanced settings to "share this connection". Too easy.

Cheap decent reviews and should solve your issue without having the added latency from ICS.
