It's smaller in diameter than crystal link tubing, but it's about the same width as the smallest available traditional tubing. You're just not used to it yet; once you become accustomed to it you'll like it more. I think it's a good diameter. The problem with smaller diameter acrylic tubing is that it can't be used with normal tubing without looking too small (or the flexible tubing too large.) This tubing can be used in conjunction with traditional tubing if the builder feels like it.
You're right though, this should open the door to more options on the market. I'd like to brands' attempts at these new compression fittings, as well as more tubing options.
