Is 50C normal core idle temps for 3930K, Noctua D-14, Haf X casing

Hi,

I am concerned about my new gaming desktop I had a professional company build for me. Informatique.nl built it themselves and delivered the desktop rig.

With nothing running on the PC since last night, are these normal temps ? I find it hard to believe that the cores idle at around 50C ? I dont understand what does the HWmon mean by SYSTIN, CPUTIN, AUXTIN as well... Some help me please smile.gif

nothing. Stock. never over clocked it.

under load i see that it uses multiplier of 38 to get to 3.8Ghz. bus speed is 100 or 99.9 shown in cpuz. Basically no overclocking

That sounds too high, sounds like the thermal compound could be poorly applied or the cooler needs to be re-mounted. Could you take a picture of inside your rig so we could see the fan setup.

The vcore seems to be raised from stock which is likely causing the greater temps, changing it back to factory settings in the BIOS should lower the temps.

I think you are right. Somehow they raised the vcore when they built the pc. I used ASUS AI 2 all in one software that comes with ASUS boards (i have P9X79 WS) to "Auto OC" and adjusted the Noctua D14 and Case fan profiles to increase fan speed.

Result:

Under 100% load from Prime95 since 1.5 hours.... max temps are as follows

Pic = https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5879999/OC%204.3.jpg

Idle temps for all cores now is about 39 - 42C ... Does this seem right for an OC of 4.3Ghz ?

I'm not usually a fan of the auto OC profiles as they usually give too much vcore, but that seems good. smile.gif

make sure the cpu idle on volt 0.8xx so that to exclude any background programs
if yes so there is absolutely defect in thermal paste or the noctua not properly installed
mine oc to 4.5 with idle 0.861 v temp 28 and max 71

Bro, what did you mean by cpu idle on volt 0.8xx ? When CPU is idle... should the vcore be 0.8x ? I thought Vcore is constant that we set during OC. How do I check this idle volt ?

here is a picture of HWmonitor during idle cpu / no load on PC : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5879999/OC-4-3-idle-temps.jpg

Sorry for my naive questions, totally new to OC, thats why did Auto OC instead of doing it the hard way rolleyes.gif Though, I joined this forum to learn and do it the proper way in due time after doing some good reading here.
