the ram is ddr (double data rate) so its actually running at 800mhz. it probably dropped it so that it would run in a 1:1 ratio with the fsb.

i think the stepping (revision) of your processor can be found on the box. it will start out like L6 and then have number for the week and then an A or B.

what PSU are you plannin on gettin when you get the quad core. i dont think your current one will run a QX6700 and a 8800GTX
