i would rather be on your shoes to be honest!

the EVGA SC 770 i ordered and overnighted is not here yet! and its 8:45pm ....it was out for delivery over 12 hours ago!

lol wish we could have traded then, but im kinda getting over it. Im gaming at 1241mhz 8000mem right now, the card is nice looking in the tj08e since the cooler faces up on this one (i made a window). If I switch cases I may go with an asus 770 or make my own backplate out of hobby store lexan. The local rc track doesnt charge much for custom airbrush work so thats kinda what Im thinking if I do keep the msi.

Clocked lower but still beat the GTX 680 lightning. So no seeing anything bad really. It's a lightning card. Flash the BIOS and unlock a bigger power target and hopefully voltage and then OC it. No point in having one if you don't use the added power phases and non-reference features.

The 680 lightning had far higher OC potential, though, thanks to unlocked voltage. At least the ones I had, did.

Yeah I know but most of that extra potential was locked down by the green light program pretty soon though. The hardware and real potential of the card is still there. You just got to get at it.

My 680 Lightning does 1372 / 7100 and that's with voltage adjustment. 7800 effective memory on stock voltage is nuts. These cards have a lot of potential with unlocked voltage. Will have to wait and see if new Afterburner allows it or can be possibly hacked to raise voltage biggrin.gif

It wasn't locked down to my knowledge, it just required a BIOS flash back to the original LN2 BIOS. And with that and the proper afterburner versions, unlocked voltage remained.

Want to make it know that the ln2 bios on the 680 "slows" the internal timings of some things to an extent. Clock for clock, the ln2 BIOS is slower then the stock bios.

Sane applies to the 7970 lightnings.

Edit:so apparently using a word to correctly describe the slowing of something gets ** out.

Lol HD 7970 owners must feel proud. Still nothing beats AMD's offering in the price range. Just a question though, is the ~1.3 GHz absolute maximum average overclock for the 7970s out there or it's less?

1275/1700 and game stable is rare for any 7970. I've owned 4 7970s and none of them could hit these clocks in game. The overclocks used for Kepler however are about average for most 680s. The 680 Lightning in test is rather tamed. For comparison's sake mine does 1372/1771 with unlocked voltage. The sample used in the review does 1251/1700 which is pretty low for any 680 Lightning. I'm wondering why HOCP didn't use their 680 Lightning sample from this review: http://hardocp.com/article/2012/07/30/msi_geforce_gtx_680_lightning_overclocking_redux/4#.UbLwzJywUQ8

1392/1765. Would have soundly beaten the 7970 and at least match it in Tomb Raider.

That would be awesome if true.
