The 680 Lightning in test is rather tamed. For comparison's sake mine does 1372/1771 with unlocked voltage. The sample used in the review does 1251/1700 which is pretty low for any 680 Lightning. I'm wondering why HOCP didn't use their 680 Lightning sample from this review: http://hardocp.com/article/2012/07/30/msi_geforce_gtx_680_lightning_overclocking_redux/4#.UbLwzJywUQ8

1392/1765. Would have soundly beaten the 7970 and at least match it in Tomb Raider.

Kepler architecture has a lower clock/performance gain ration then GCN.

A 680 @ 1350-1400 core =~ a 7970 @ 1225-1275.

All three of my 7970 lightning's hit 1300/1800 minimum stable in every game when by themselves. This is not normal though and neither is 1350+ core on a 680/770.

Eh...maybeon the 670/680, but the titan and 780 scale pretty damn good with clock speed gains

Yeah, because the GK104 used for the 770 is such a new chip, later bins will clock so high.

Seems like 80% of the 770 members are stable over 1300mhz thanks to the extra voltage over the 680. I think I have the worst one in there though at 1254mhz lol

Looks like a weak review imo and according to amd fans on this forum the 7970 kills the 770 when over clocked but according to these results that's not the case

That review is not really fair in terms of real world comparison.
HD7970 is on the very high end of OC. most 7970s can't do 1275 MHz core stable at 24/7.
The GTX 680 Lightning sample is a weak sauce. 770 on the other hand has a very good memory OC but the core is weak.

They didn't get lucky this time with Nvidia cards.

this! i had 3 Sapphire 7970...all of them where between 1100 and 1200 core (lightnings are cheating thou tongue.gif )

3 different 770!

EVGA SC maxed at 1200 .....Gigabyte 1300 and the lightning i have now goes well past over 1350 but i need better cooling than stock so i have it 1300 /7800

my evga 680 did 1200/7k

not all cards get crazy OC and for people like me on air ....we might never see those numbers!

i went from 3 7950's to a single 770 with the same settings in games my 770 gives the best picture quality, i never see the fuss about the issues with crossfire / trifire but going to my first ever nvidia card i like the slight reduction in performance for all the other benefits. the only thing is my 19k 3dmark 11 score is only 12k now
I should game.
