Amd and pcie 3.0

Thread Starter
So i'm working on building a new computer for gaming and I was originally planning on getting the AMD FX-6350 Vishera processor with
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX/GEN3 R2.0 motherboard and then run 2 GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics cards.

After doing some more research on the motherboard I'm question whether I actually want to get it because it seems that many people are having issues with it. So if I got with a different motherboard will the FX-6350 be able to run the GTX 660 Ti cards through pcie 2.0 slots instead of pci 3.0 slots?

Yes PCIe 2.0 is still good for 3.0 cards. You will probably get a 0.3% bottleneck though. Yes I have tested this.

PCIe technology are backwards compatible--it will work. You will see little to no real world performance drop from using 2.0 instead of 3.0.
