Thread Starter

Figured I'd give this an early start, given one such motherboard has already been reported at computex thumbsupsmiley.png

This thread will be updated as more motherboards are found. Feel free to submit in the thread below!

On Socket FM2+

Socket FM2+ is backward-compatible with Richland and Trinity processors.

The FM2+ is having additional 2 pins - that means that the FM2+ APU's will
not fit in the existing FM2 - because of the pin layout.

Or maybe those two extra holes are reserved for the FM3,
so that FM2+ APU's will work on FM2?

All ASRock FM2 MBO's got their new FM2+ EFI's. thumb.gif

Yeah, appears to be that I'll have to get rid of my FM2 platform right before Kaveri launches...

Dang, I hope a mITX board lands on launch day :/

I don't think so. The latest roadmaps may have shown Kaveri as being an FM2+ socket processor, but did not deny that it could work in FM2 similar to AM2/AM2+ setups (or even some AM3/AM3+). AMD did previously announce that FM2 will continue to take on several generations.
There isn't much of a reason to build a Richland system with this coming out. I'm excited to see what performance Kaveri and FM2+ will offer. I just hope AMD can make a big impact in 2014.

Check the socket pinout :/

Trinity/Richland (FM2 pinout) are compatible with FM2+ mechanically, but Kaveri doesn't fit FM2... It has two pins on the top left and bottom right 'notches' that would collide with them and not let it go inside.

xd_1771 thanks for another great thread thumb.gif

Can't wait for Gigabyte A88X boards. Their Z87 mobos are ace. smile.gif

2014 is supposed to be the year where HSA takes off on the discrete GPUs, so high hopes for AMD.

It would be nice to be able to grab FM2+ boards before the release of Kaveri and get an upgradable Richland build up and running.
