Any chance of an FM2+ motherboard with SLI capability?

I realize that it's counter-intuitive for AMD, but I still wish for an APU with the fx-8350/RADEON HD7970 combination which would totally eliminate the need for an external GPU (for me anyway). If it wouldn't ruin the sales numbers in their other markets, and they could fit it all into 1 chip, it'd be a dream...

Dude that would definitely cut into their sales if they were able to pull that off.

I would expect to pay a premium in such a way that buying a more powerful cpu and graphics card would be cheaper for it to makes sense for them.

Biggest issue would be the circa-300W total power consumption.

It would have to ship with a CLC, else no chance of a stock chunk of metal cooling it down.

But we're getting there. Kaveri ships with half a XBOX One GPU xD

Yea, if you can wait a bit FM2+ boards should be on the market in the next couple of months. FM2 ends with Richland, and Steamroller is suppose to be AMD's "high performance core". So maybe putting a hold on your build until FM2+ boards release might pay off. You can still run Richland APU's in the FM2+ socket (forward compatibility with current Trinity + Richland), so if its a must have you can buy a cheap $50 dual core Richland APU to run in it until Kaveri hits shelves. Then just give the old APU to the wife or kids when you upgrade.

Yeah, just a thought, although, theoretically it should be cheaper for them overall to produce as there would be only one complete chip to make, and like was said, a HUGE clc system shipped with it. all that cost in plastics, heatsinks, (cpu+gpu) as well as the other pcb,etc costs.
They'd probably never do it unless it is so far into the future, that the current stuff is only considered midgrade.

Any timetable for the FM2+ boards to become available? I will definitely wait to grab a high end FM2+ board at this point to go along with my xbox one and ps4 biggrin.gif

I remember hearing something about November. I could really use one now though, planning a build for security cameras and home file server.

Edit: It was this post that mentioned the timeframe

I would love to grab one soon as well, but I can hold out until November and then stick in a cheap Dual Core APU in there until February thumb.gif
