Crucial Ballistix Tactical 16 GB PC3-10700 or PC3-12800?!

Hi folks,
I purchased and installed my two sticks of Crucial Ballistix Tactical Low Profile 16GB Kit (8GBx2) DDR3-1600 1.35V UDIMM 240-Pin Memory Modules.

The profile I chose in my Asrock UEFI was XMP profile 1, 1.35 V.

My problem is that the Maximum Bandwidth in CPU-Z is displayed as PC3-10700 667mhz when it supposed to be PC3-12800.

In addition, when I look at the four columns in the Timing Table, it indicates that columns 1, 2 and 3 indicate voltages of 1.28v, (four columns 1 and 2/JEDEC# 3 & 4), and 1.35 V in column number 3. Column number four however, shows it at 1.5 V.

So what is going on here? Is it something I set wrong? Wouldn't I want the Maximum Bandwidth to be the rated PC312800? I guess what I'm getting at here is that I'm not sure I received the ram I ordered.

But then again, I'm the first to acknowledge that I don't know how to read the CPU-Z display in its entirety and may even be responsible for that Maximum Bandwidth results which I would have to adjust within my bios. Is that right?
Thank you, Rich

No one? Really?redface.gif

I can't see where I can improve the question I'm asking which is why is my Max bandwidth of the Crucial memory that's supposed to be PC3-12800 displaying at PC3-10700?

sorry for the DP but im pressed for time ( at work )

if they are this set i use the exact same set with an ASRock extreme 6 mobo .... i do not use xmp profile.

i set my mem voltage to 1.5v manually then set frequency to 2000 then set timings manually to 9-9-10-24 / 1n

when i first got into clocking my ram i found this guide for our ram and its a fairly good guide with points to aim for .... my ram was not stable at 2133 for some reason but at 2000 it ran like a dream and with maxmem testing it beat the scroes that this guide showed at the 2133 mhz freq.

good luck and keep us posted i will check in from time to time today when i can to see if i can help

here is the guide i was talking about

Outstanding Beefcurtins!!
I really appreciate it. If there's one blind spot I have on builds, (and I have a few, lol), it's the RAM, hands down.

I'm going to look at that link and try to get educated. I'm also writing down those settings you have because we're not too far apart in the mobo and RAM area.

Don't get me wrong, it works fine now but I didn't understand that MAX Bandwidth thing and the Crucial tech department said it's a bios setting. They couldn't tell me what to do because they're not permitted to advize on mobos or any items that they don't manufacture.

I've had no problems and I ran a memory test for 2 hours immediately after I installed the ram to be sure that it was good, (passed with flying colors).

So thanks again for taking a moment, and I'll update as soon as I know the bottom lines, but as far as I'm concerned, you da' man:thumb:! I click your REP.

Hey BeefCurtins,
These screenshots show CPU-Z and Tweakit's readings for the way I had the ram set right now. My Asrock mobo doesn't give me the choice of a 2000 MHz option like yours apparently does.

So after I read the article in your link, I chose what he had set the timing to for the 1866 MHz speed at 1.5 V. His timing was 8-8-9-21 and his command rate was 1N.

As you can see, my command rate is 2T. Tweakit is only good as a "Report Card" and otherwise inoperable on Asock boards. Too bad, it would have made things easy but then, I probably would have blown the RAM up, lol.

My problem is pretty much like I said first time, I don't know anything about RAM when it comes to adjustments and so the only figures I'm changing are the four first timing settings that are displayed vertically when you go to the configuration screen in the UEFI.

I didn't sent it to the numbers you had yours to because as I said, 2000 MHz is not one of the choices in the list. After 1866 MHz I think the next one is 21xx something or maybe even 23xxmhz. I'm going to have to read more until I understand what I'm supposed to adjust or focus on adjusting when overclocking RAM.

When you adjust yours, aside from picking out the speed, do you mess with anything besides the four timing numbers?
Thanks, Rich

Hey BeefCurtins, you still there?

I was wondering if you could tell me which of the settings in your UEFI do you actually adjust when you clocked your RAM and which did you leave on AUTO?

Assuming that you're still nearby, of course.
Thanks, Rich
