I want to squeeze ever little bit out of an older rig

Thread Starter
My current rig is older, and I've decided to wait on buying a new cpu/motherboard/ram/gpu and squeeze as much as I can out of this PC by liquid cooling and etc. So here's the setup:

-ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe (570 SLI chipset)
-Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6 stock, currently 3.1 with 1.525v if I recall correctly
-4gb DDR2 (4x1gb sticks, 2 of these are OCZ Gold)
-EVGA 9800GT 1gb

So I was going to go with liquid cooling eventually, since it's one of those things that can be transferred to a new system and reused. I've already bought a new case, some fans, and a fan speed controller. Would delidding the cpu help at all? Also, the multiplier on my motherboard won't go past 13x, is this locked or is there a way to get more? Any other suggestions? Thanks biggrin.gif

IMO it's not worth the money to water cool something you are planning on upgrading anyways. If I were you I would rather put the money towards a new system then worry about water cooling later on.

Well looks like it's time to upgrade I guess.

I also agree with the upgrade and then water cool idea. OCN is here to help you upgrade, so that those of us who cannot upgrade right now can imagine we are the one's upgrading. Cheers. thumb.gif
