Any Pros or Cons for EVGA 680i - Page 2

Hey Cozart,

I just bought a EvgA 680I MOBO. i have not tried to OC anything yet as I'm waiting for my stinger water block to get here befor I bring my loop online. I'm pulling 10129 in my last 3dmark06 run as it stands so just enjoying this kind of proformance upgrade from my 2 7800gtx's has been a treat enough for now..the board seems to be working well but I have noticed some kind of poping feed back when I use firefox. I 'm usinf teh spdif optical out to a logitech z-5500 set. I think it may be some kind of on board sound problem but I will end up getting ahigh end sound card soon so dose not really matter... So in short my experiance with the mobo has been good -the sound problem.

Good to hear that Baran

It could well be that any reports of failures are isolated issues, and definately under stressful conditions (extreme overclocking).

I have the evga 680i. Its been setup for about a month now. After a few issues with heat in the beginning it runs fairly smoothly now.

With my e6600 I have the fsb set at 437 with a multiplier of 7 and the memory at 1000mhz set at 4.4.4.9 and it runs with no problem. I tried setting the multiplier to 8 for around 3.4ghz but for long term (ie days of downloading and no computer reboots, etc) the heat buildup was getting too great.

The only real issue i can say about the board is the sata problem people report about. Randomly my board's hard drives just can't be read anymore and I get bsod or Window's error messages saying that files cannot be written. Sometimes its 1 or 2 a day. Sometime's it goes several days without reboots and no bsod, its fairly random and I would say its a slight nuisance.

Sounds like more than a slight nuisance. Defiantly not something I would live with.
