Exactly.

Why can't games just be games... like a board game is a board game- you could hand it to a friend so they could try it with their friends...

It's come down to this "Licensing" issue...which means they own the game. Forever. You just pay to use it for a bit.

Thats exactly the issue. on a console your games always cost $50-60$ but now, if the game is utter turd you have it only in license, downloaded to your console. No ebay, gamestop or work collegue selling off your used game to recoup 15$ back or even swapping the game your stuck with your choice to pre-order BF54 and finding out it was as garbage as the last game
Steam IS different, as the games cost a fraction of those for consoles, there are bundles, sales and have the added advantage of mods and im sure in the future 'in-steam trading'

I wouldn't even say backpedaling really, more like side stepping or phrasing vaguely so as to position themselves in a manner that they're "technically" right. "WE" didn't kill used games..."They" did. you see what I'm saying

Except the article in OP is a statement straight from Microsoft, so yeah....

I have pretty much lost all interest in both Xbox One and PS4 now. I know both will pursue these idiotic DRM schemes and defeat the purpose of the console.

Looks like the Wii U is the only new console that is a console.

Why anyone would want to give up everything that has always been so great about console gaming to these greedy Hardware and Software companies is beyond me.

I own a PC dangit! I don't need my console pretending its one. I need it to play my dang games no strings attached mad.gif

I put a poll up on another site. 38.64% on the xbox board and 30% on the PS4 board would actually trade consoles with a friend to get around this.

the guarantee xbone failure and no one is going to buy it. moving on to sony.

infact if both consoles fail then game devs would finally look back at PCs and make real games there instead of COD reboots
