Piledriver will work fine on AM3 boards but make sure your bios is up-to-date. What motherboard are you using?

Get this instead: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285

$10 cheaper on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/AMD-FX-8320-Eight-Core-Processor-FD8320FRHKBOX/dp/B009O7YU56/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1370577038&sr=8-1&keywords=FX-8320

Also, what is your budget?

I have a budget of around $300 right now. I am not sure on what my mobo is and cant figure it out. I need a cpu that is good for very cpu intense games (Arma). I currently have a XFX 7870 Black Edition so im not worried about that. And i have 8gigs of corsair ram. I dont really wanna overclock right now but will the stock speeds on the cpu l asked about good enough to work and will it work on my mobo?

your cpu does not need a upgraded, just needs a overclock.
buy a cpu cooler and a 7870

What motherboard do you have?

If you already have a decent mobo then buy a good cooler and overclock.

Update your BIOS and get this. ^ If that price is a few too high, get the 6350: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113327

You have a good CPU, don't see why you would want the upgrade, though.

ok. you don't need a cpu or gfx upgrade to run this game both are within recommended(not minimum) spec. Something that is not being said is the culprit or you have a bad part somewhere.

And what could be the culprit for that? Bad Ram?
could be but i have rarely seen bad ram. my first step would be to reseat everything connected to the mb after that del things you dont need.
