Bill Gates still keeps a job, he loves to pursue it with passion, trying to make software easier for everyone. He goes to many colleges and visits students pursuing careers in this field and inspires him. He doesnt blow money on bull**** and he gives AMAZING amounts to charity. He is a good person who got lucky, and every person who gets lucky and rich is bound to have enemies who hate him for NO REASON AT ALL.

I kind of find it ironic... his company is responsible for some of the most effective copy protection schemes I've ever come across. The DRM-based WMV and WMA files have only been cracked over the past year (I think).

DVD's, on the other hand, basically came out, and got cracked subsequently.

I do NOT have experience with any of this, of course

Ya of course he is going to live in the nicest house he can, wouldnt you? But if you notice he doesnt buy a hundred cars or diamond plated bathrooms or even wear expensive suits to interviews. He is a good guy and he is not a rich snob, even though he is rich haha.

This needs to end. Bill Gates is a person. He gives to charity by choice. He can live in a big house and w/e because he worked for it. Haters are just haters and leave it at that. If you made a new music/video file format and record companies are using them, you wouldn't protect it? *cough*

As far as CD's/DVD's go, it's getting to be a serious issue. DRM on CD's and DVD's are limiting legal users so it's a REAL issue.

Put yourself here

You have created a new operating system. It is a moderate part of your company's profit. Out of nowhere, people who didn't even purchase it are using your OS. Income is lowering. What to do???
Call a world reunion and ask them to stop copying/pirating nicely?

IMO, Bill Gates pwns again.

He had no choice with WGA.

There has been a fix released by MS which some piraters also took advantage of... Sadly.

The more you give, the more you lose. Basics of life.

I've been totally victimized by my desire to get legit. I tried to buy a Windows license in order to cure the MGA headache, but couldn't find a way to do this--neither through the "buy Windows" links or Microsoft's site.

They make legitimacy very inconvenient and unappealing. It's the arrogance of a monopoly.
