Why should the US be allowed to collect all my data i have on any of these services.

Because people tend to live in a bubble. They hold very naive thoughts and opinions about the world. They are brainwashed on a daily basis by mainstream media, music and entertainment.

The US propaganda engine has been so effective in curtailing the minds of the masses people won't believe that their own government is the most evil and diabolical government ever existed even if their own government told them so.

It was never a conspiracy, if you were observant and objective enough there was evidence all over the place since. George Orwell saw this before his all popular 1984 book was published in the 40s.

What many people are extremely ignorant and naive of is, there are certain fundamentals that can never change, once those foundations are shifted, then everything it supported will crumble.

Once they start crossing lines out on the Constitution what's stopping them from burning it?

LoL, the irony. I see no difference in a dictatorship and internet forums. If you say something that is against their interest, you are removed/banned/etc in the guise of violating the TOS.

People live in this dream where they think they have freedom, but subconsciously humans all want totalitarian rule. This is evident in friends, families, corporations and of course the government. If you ever noticed, there is always one person in the group who has the final say.

the fact that it CAN and will be used on anyone in the U.S. is my problem with it.
ill take politics out of this. back when this statement was made, there was not red vs blue, no left vs right. just people who wanted freedom from tyranny.

to all those who think this is reasonable for our safety look at one of the United States Of America's founding fathers. think about what is said as i feel it speaks revelations to what is happening today even with TSA and flying...

So I came across this news headline right now: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/06/09/obama-administration-takes-first-step-in-probe-on-who-leaked-info-about-phone/
Quote:
Obama administration takes first step toward opening criminal probe into purported leaking of classified documents related to federal government's tracking of Americans' phone calls and emails.

So let me get this straight. This government can spy on you and invade your privacy, but if if you do the same thing to them, you're in trouble.

where's the loss of liberty though? loss of privacy and liberty are not the same thing, if they are not using this information to repress the american people. where's the evidence that this was abused or used to repress people?

oh wait there is none, just a lot of slippery slope arguments from idealists in the press who claim it "isn't necessary." as if they have any background in a field or knowledge of current circumstances that makes them qualified to make that statement

before you knew this was occurring, would you have said your liberty was somehow being repressed by an unknown force? probably not, but it's the "principle"

the point is privacy. And you dont think information is used to repress people because your life is ok right?
