Powercolor 7870 Myst problem

Thread Starter
I recently bought the PowerColor 7870 Myst Edition to replace my 6870. Before installing my 7870 I've uninstalled all of my drivers and installed the newest driver (13.4). I run through furmark fine, but when I play games my drivers crash and recover and have this checkered pattern across my screen. I've tried driver versions 13.4 and 13.6 so far and it happens on both. My card is at stock clocks right now (975/1500) and I was wondering if this was a driver problem or should I just RMA the card?

I'm currently using my 6870 right now on 13.4 because games are currently unplayable at this point with the drivers crashing and checkered pattern across my screen.

I would highly recommend rma I have had issues just like that. It has a possibility to be caused by so many parts of the cards. I'm sorry for your troubles though good luck.
Ps if you wana rule out any hardware problems try a different version of windows maybe xp

I would run SYSPREP.

"uninstalled drivers and reinstalled" how?

That is what I did when I switched from 560 Ti 448 to 7970 and from 5850 to 560 Ti 448.

Try dropping your cards clocks as low as it will go in ccc if it stops or allows you to play longer it could be faulty cooling as well

Or a bad chip

Many of the times if another card wouldn't crash it would be your new card that is the problem. In other words, RMA it.
But also, do check for temps tongue.gif
