[VC] AMD Radeon HD 8000 Graphics Cards Will Feature Better Coolers

According to David Nekechuck, a Product Manager for Desktop Graphics in AMD, the next series of Radeon graphics cards will be equipped with more efficient cooling solutions.

ComputerBase made a trip to Taiwan, where a lot of new hardware is presented at Computex. Guys from CB had a chance to talk with both manufacturers about the next series, or more precisely the current series for NVIDIA. Of course, not many details were disclosed at this point, but AMD is supposedly taking a lot of effort to manufacture a more efficient cooling system.

Can't be that hard as their cooling always makes a lot of noise for whatever reason that is.
I mean a better design and a better fan you only have to make it once then use it for generations to come. (vapor chamber *cough* *cough*)

Finally, the reference HD7970GE was horrible though biggrin.gif 51dba in load, if i'm right. But who cares about reference models anyways? (except people who do watercooling)

Their last Card Hd 7990 had great cooling system compared to their old card , where compnies like 3d club had to put a better cooler in AMD card and sale it , the new Hd 7990 seems good and quiet

People who build SFF rigs! The fact that AMD's coolers go straight into hair dryer mode over 35% fan is what pushed me towards a 600 series card in the first place (even with AMD's sexy, sexy bundles).

Definitely looking forward to this! How awesome would it be if they made a stock cooler that was competitive with the Titan/780 reference shrouds?

less chat and get the cards out thumb.gif

You cant buy a reference 7970 GHz because there isn't one. All 7970 GHz cards for sale have non reference coolers. 7970 GHz cards are only used in reviews and make the card look BAD.
For this reason, Anandtech uses a non reference card for their reviews. It's MUCH cooler and quieter than any reference nvidia 600 card. Not that nvidia cards don't get similar results with non-reference coolers.

I'm inclined to agree with the third paragraph of the article and the AIB partners side of the story.
