Nvidia taking a chip never designed for consumers and putting it on a consumer card should lead to an interesting response from AMD. I just hope they don't delay their release any further... I would really like to see them come out with new cards before Q4 of this year.

What did they give you? The same squirrel cage leaf blower year after year. Very innovative amd. Lol

Wiki says they had water chamber cooling on 7x series. Is this cutting edge?

Those "coolers" are probably worth 5-10% of the cost. They would lost more profit by taking it off and reducing the price of the card, unless it was by $10-15 or something.

It's not worth it to them.

Agreed. NVIDIA is doing some impressive things lately.

If this is AMDs answer and they can match NVIDIA on cooling/noise, then cool (no pun intended) However, NVIDIAs solution is much cooler (pun intended)

Not sure if AMD bashing or just really think Nvidia is doing exceptional.
I concur that smacking magnesium on their vapor chamber coolers looks good but it isn't that the performance is all that exceptional as the EVGA ACX solution runs 20 degrees cooler.

If you couldn't go aftermarket and this turned out to be superior in terms of cooling would you really go with a cooler that looks good?
If the labda between the fans is around 0.5 with the speed of sound in air at 333/343 degrees kelvin then this could be one of the most silent coolers.
Judging by the placing of the fans that must be the reasoning.

i could care less about the cooler, i want to see better drivers, better crossfire frame rates, and more smoothness in frames!
but better coolers would be nice
Well they are working on that software based frame metering but maybe they also include hardware based.

I should have been more specific...

I was happy to see any information directly from AMD about the next generation of desktop graphics cards.
