New @ overclocking I7 3770K

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
Hi

Im kinda new to overclocking. I just got a I7 3770K and Asus Maximus V Gene. And i want to know if its worth Overclocking my PC. I use it mostly for Games and CAD.
I got a Hydra H70 Cooler so i sould be fine with Temps.

Sould i start with a low overclock to like 4.2 ghz? or can i pull this CPU to 4.5-4.6 without a sweat.

Hope to hear from you all.

The oc ability of your cpu is pure luck. You have to try to find out. The best way is to follow this guide here http://www.overclock.net/t/1291703/ivy-bridge-overclocking-guide-asus-motherboards

This..

take a nice cup of tea and time to read and try stuff. If something wont work,
feel free to post and get some support if needed..

GL! (;

You can try 4.5 ghz, no problem.. just look at the other peoples overclocks
and settings here on OCN and in the guides to know what VCore to use
for which ghz amount... the binning of the chips always may be different
so theres one chip that needs a little more and another a little less
for the same overclock..
