As it says in the thread im wondering what i can do to make my boot up times shorter. Also how do i see the list of which programs open on start up? I saw a thread but i can seem to find it: it was how to keep boot time under 15s or something... if anyone can help then please do

enable quickboot in your bios if you have it, and uncheck all of your unessential programs/services through msconfig.

Delete everything in the prefetch folder. Windows will load in 1/4 of the time.

To get rid of windows xp logo in startup sheds around 2 seconds. go to run/msconfig/noguiboot. Also you can try doing these settings. Also while you are in msconfig hid windows systems and remove things at boot up like. Itunes helper and quicktime task. Another thing you can do is after you delete prefetch folder set it's value to "2" so it only prefetches what you use.

The Prefetch folder in located in X:\\Windows\\Prefetch.

You might have to enable hidden files and folders to get to it.
