Hey OCN. I'm currently using Linux Mint 13 KDE & openSUSE 12.3. I'm getting tired of them and now I'm looking for something new and fresh to get started with. I prefer KDE, I want it to be stable but mdern, rolling release, and have a variety of packages avalible, including nvidia drivers. So far i have it down to Arch and OpenSUSE tumbleweed. ANy advise?

Have you tried Manjaro? It is an Arch-based distro that follows the rolling release model. It's pretty snazzy.

Yes, I believe it does. Very similar to the command line Arch installer but a little bit more helpful. I personally have never used Suse so I can't throw my two cents in on that.

How about Chakra? KDE4 and a graphical installer. GUI frontend for pacman. NVIDIA drivers pre-installed. http://chakra-project.org/news/index.php?/archives/104-Chakra-2013.05-Benz-ISO-released.html

Thanks for the chakra suggestion. will it work with the aur. I also don't need a graphic install. i know what im doing for installing arch. Nvidia drivers are also in the official repo of arch to its easy enough to add at install. just wasnt sure if spinoffs use to official repo and work with aur

Sounds more like you should just go Arch (as you want the AUR and know more about it) then unless you don't want to spend the time setting things up yourself. Charkra wasn't that great a year ago but maybe it's better now. I just know it didn't like GTK things.

If you have plenty of free time and want stable then the best KDE in that sense is Slackware. But unless you basically go against it's mantra and install a package manager then you'll have to handle installing things on your own.

I would say just go Arch, seems like it's what you want and I'm fairly biased towards Arch myself. As to a display manager for xfce, you can install any you want... SLiM is one of my favorites, but you can also use kdm, gdm, lxdm, lightdm, etc.
