Raid0 does not boot windows after cmos reset.

Thread Starter
I needed to clear cmos because bios was freezing.
After i cleared it i switched sata to raid again.
Intel raid controller still sees the raid volume but when i boot to the volume it says no OS.

In my boot override list there is an option windows boot. When i use it get in windows so its still intact..

Any clues? Thanks

i've had this happen to me aswell after updating the bios on my ASUS P8H77-M.
all you have to do is go into the sata configuration setting in your bios and set the two disks in RAID mode
hope this helps

EDIT: As stated in the mobos' manual
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
4.4.3 Setting the RAID item in BIOS
You must enable the RAID function in the BIOS Setup before creating RAID set(s) using SATA HDDs. To do this:
1. Enter the BIOS Setup during POST.
2. Go to the Advanced menu > SATA Configuration, and then press .
3. Set the SATA Mode item to [RAID Mode].
4. Save your changes, and then exit the BIOS Setup.

Change your HDD boot priority to your raid volume in the BIOS/UEFI. It should be listed above the boot order.

boot priority might not be the issue.
in both cases that i encountered this the boot priority was set to the first drive of the raid configuration, it was just that the bios wasn't configured correctly. sth that can occur after a default reset or a bios update.

I believe with windows 8 you have to choose the windows boot manager option. I can't recall as it has been some time since I have ran 8.

i don't think this has to do with windows at all.
it's just all about the bios config

With Windows 8 you have secure boot. So you have to choose Windows boot manager in the UEFI in order to boot into windows, at least I do on my motherboard. If not you may have to choose the raid array that Windows is installed on as your boot option in the HDD boot priorities. Maybe I am misunderstanding the problem.

I don't think it has anything to do with the bootpriority as i did select the array as first to boot in line.
It still said that there was no OS installed.

When selecting WINDOWS BOOT MANAGER in the override list i could boot normally to windows8 without a problem but that option is not in the normal boot order list.

I solved it now by reinstalling windows but still want to know what this was because i am sure i am going to clear CMOS again soon

was your raid configuration set within the OS by using Intel's RST ?
