Aspire One D257 Keyboard Issue

Hey guys,

Working on my girlfriend's laptop here. Just did a full fresh install of Win7 Starter. The keyboard on this thing, just doesn't seem to want to work correctly. The L Shift key works on only half the buttons, sticks on some. The R Shift key does basically nothing. Some of the keys, such as the "E" key, cause the mouse to click.

What is going on here? confused.gif

First thing that I would try here is to remove the keyboard and reseat the connector. It comes loose far too easily on the acer netbooks (especially on the D270 that I have.)

Other than that, it could simply be a faulty keyboard. Seeing as the mouse interconnects are opposite to the turn of the keyboard cable (meaning it would require either a busted motherboard, or a physical movement of the keyboard ribbon to cause any issues between the two.) It would kind of back up a broken keyboard.

Try a USB keyboard and see if the problem still exists.

USB keyboard it worked fine. I did reseat the connection to the main keyboard, and that didn't help anything at all.

if the USB works fine, then there is a very good chance that it is not a software fault.

It might be worth trying to replace the keyboard and see if that fixes the issue.
