besides it only uses like 90W and even less if clocked low 700Mhz would get it down to 70W I guess maybe even less when put into place correctly like asus did with their GTX650-E
It has to have the GDDR5 or equivalent to work so there might be an issue there but we'll see soon enough right tongue.gif

I hope they do get it going, honestly. I've rooted for AMD since back in the K6 days, and I've always wanted to build a tiny little gaming PC (APU would be perfect for that). I just haven't been all that impressed with what's been released yet, and the skeptic in me doesn't see that massive a jump in performance as possible.

We shall certainly see, though, once AMD releases more info.

That's kinda how it goes though, huh? If you want the absolute fastest out there, you end up paying almost twice as much for only slightly better performance. Titan vs 780, for example.

SoC sounds like such a fancy thing... rolleyes.gif

I've yet to see the APU that uses shared GDDR5 memory. Kind of a pretty big difference.

To the enthusiastic market, yes price doesn't matter as much.
But when talking about integrated graphics, its hardly not-relevant if it costs an arm & a leg to get a 15% increase over the 2nd fastest iGPU.

There IS no competitiveness. Console games cannot be played on IGPs at decent FPS unless you are using resolutions below 720p. Period.

Hooray for incorrect blanket statements.

Intel Iris Pro 5200 maintains over 30fps at all times at 1600x900 high quality in Tomb Raider, 39fps in Metro Last Light (1366x768, medium quality), 26fps in Bioshock Infinite (1600x900, very high quality), 24fps in Crysis 3 (1680x1050, medium quality), etc.

Definitely no "period" about it, especially since that iGPU is wrapped in a small 47W mobile CPU package.

I hear ya. I am super disappointed because I wanted AMD to innovate faster than Intel no matter the cost. If their APU cost $300 but was able to do 1080p gaming well Hell I might have had actual interest in buying.

Don't give up on AMD yet if this gimped PS4 SoC sees the light of day it might be a game changer that is what I personally hope for.
