PUT A FAN ON MY TV

Thread Starter
I have a 50" LG plasma. Great tv put plasma gets hot. I took a leftover case fan & some packaging tape to the problem. It has 3 sets of vents, right, middle & left. The right side is where most of the heat is. I put the fan pushing at the bottom vent on the right side. Seems to have dropped 10-15F off the temperature of the tv by the top vent. The fan is just a wimpy little fan. I'm thinking about a ty143 to really push some air through it.. Anybody got any ideas about whether I'm doing any good for the tv?

Wouldn't have thought it would make any difference to be honest but that's just me.

Plasma TV's get hot. They design them with that in mind. With that being said a fan lowering the temp definitely wouldnt be a bad thing. Especially on those hot summer days. Might make you feel better too so why not.

You will also be pushing in some dust, which might be worst on the long run.

Thought about that. I figure once every year or two I'll pull the back off & dust it out. But I'm thinking that lower temps SHOULD equal longer life.
