I've seen reports a lot of stuff like h100i, 1.2-1.25v, 90-100c. But results seem to vary a LOT
They do indeed. Coming from a 920 to 4770k and I have to say, I'm disappointed. It was a pretty nice upgrade all around, but this OC limit I'm getting. Seems to me I hit the reverse "silicon lottery".I can barely get 4.3 at 1.295 set in BIOS /1.308 in CPU-Z. My temps are good, but it just doesn't want to be stable beyond 4.3 no matter what voltage I give it. (I haven't tried anything extreme). 4.5 at 1.335 is still unstable and I don't necessarily want to go beyond what I've already done. It's all on a robust WC loop and temps seem alright, but I'm pulling my hair out!!!
It would seem intel has definitely pulled a fast one with the review chips being "cherry picked" while the rest of retail is a mess.
Boy I miss my Athlon 64 FX-53. AMD needs to do something or we're all screwed.
EDIT: Also, I know they've always kind of "cherry picked" review samples, but in this case, it seems a bit extreme. All the reviews had great procs to OC with and retail doesn't represent any of that at all. Damnit Intel. You sneaky bastards!Edited by LancerVI - 6/10/13 at 2:10pm
