Someone take their Z77 and flash to an extremely early BIOS and then update to a newer one and bench on both, because I will do this and see big differences when i update all my benchmark runs.

I agree for the most part and you're absolutely right. But that doesn't change the fact that reviewers procs were cherry picked. This is nothing new, but the variance between review samples and retail seems to be much bigger than I ever remember and I've been doing this a long time.

Do you guys think that the Corsair H100i is good enough to cool a 4770K at 4.5Ghz?

At stock, but anything beyond that is impossible to know. The variance from chip to chip is too great. Should be fine for a modest OC I would think. Keep your expectations......reasonable.

they are ALWAYS cherry picked, some more than others and that is because 90% of those reviewers can't OC worth a damn and most of the microcodes and BIOSes and software aren't ready for taking the CPU to max potential. II get those media samples as well and this time the ES in general are OCing higher, however there are some retails that OC very high, but a lot that don't. Its totally Russian roulette even with multiple CPUs.

and i heard ppl say "i will wait for Haswell" months (if not a year) ago

I don't see the problem here. Doesn't everyone run under LN2 these days?

For all those on the fence, just wait awhile to see how it all shakes out.

I take news and leaks as suspicious and trusty as they can be, given the info. I make my own mind, and since I don't have any brand allegiance I can make unbiased and uninterested speculation. I saw Haswell being underwhelming, given Chiphell bench leaks, I said so... and Intel's Cheerleading Team crawled all over me. rolleyes.gif

That's what you get for being a balanced geek. You speak your mind and fanatics from every side bash you for not conforming to their homogeneous and monolitic way of thinking. wheee.gifyessir.gif

Like I said, I agree. I know they're cherry picked, again, like I said, but this seems to be a larger amount of variance than usual, the point you haven't addressed.

However, it's besides the point as can't I be just a lil bit disappointed? Just a little? The upgrade over bloomfield is nice, no doubt; but I'll hope that a few BIOS revisions later, I'll have a bit more success.

OC'ing "worth a damn" isn't rocket science.
