Feels both good and bad. I got mine day one, and had to deal with the mobo RMA mess, but other than that it's been painless. Kind of lame nothing better has appeared (other than SB-E for stuff that is properly multithreaded) though.

Hmm.. I'll be using dual rads (360+240mm) in my new build. Ambient temp during summer over here hovers around 32-37C. Can someone tell what sort of temps should I expect after OCing to 4.2GHz?

I think 4.5 is something that should be achievable, what about the newer batches of ivy reaching 5+ ghz :|? I think there was a thread about that somewhere.

If you aren't coming from Sandy or Ivy, there is nothing wrong with Haswell. It is a pointless upgrade for LGA-1155 users however.

Ditto, but I'm probably going to just hold onto my money and see what happens. Even though I had planned to have a complete build by the end of the summer. A lot of my plans backfired and never happened, that and a lot of change of heart.

i know i am not the only one that was calling BD the next "netburst fiasco" when it launched.
now, i, like prob most of them are starting to see that its actually intel pulling the netburst fiasco all over again on their own.

if AMD doesnt take this chance to pull another "athlon" out of their pocket then idk....

Or IB-e.

To be fair, Haswell doesn't have anything in common with the Netburst fiasco. Intel is just focusing on other things while AMD catches up on the desktop.

The architecture is fine, the performance is fine, the performance per watt is fine, the GPU is improved, QuickSync is improved, they are just not very good overclockers and Intel is using TIM (and that spacing problem) because temperature holds back the overclocks. All that talk about FinFet being immature and different, etc, doesn't hold much water anymore. Remember they still have to launch IB-e later this year, which is based on a previous architecture. This is a bit of nonsense, so how do you keep your previous architecture competitive with the new one ? More cores, sure, but also by holding back the new architecture's performance. They wouldn't want the mainstream socket to be better than the enthusiast socket.
