What RAM do you use with P5B-Deluxe

I have a p5b-deluxe wifi and an e6600. I currently have 2gb ddr2 533, but i want more room to overclock, so Im looking to buy 2gb ddr2 800. I want to know what other people are using with this board and how they like it. I dont want to spend all this time comparing ram just to have it not work with my board when i get it. Im looking to spend between $200 - $250 shipped for 2gb. Thanks!

EDIT:

Here's another option, if you definitely don't want to go over budget: G.SKILL 2GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 for $225.

Well i just won an auction on ebay for new SUPER TALENT 2gb ddr2 800. I got it shipped for $241.50 and the price shipped with tax on newegg was gonna be $303.13. So i think i got a pretty good deal . The seller has over 200 feedback at 100% too . Ive been comparing ram for like a week now, its been horrible. How will this work with my p5b-d when i first put it in, this ram says 2.2v but do i need to change it to 1.8v on the board to boot-up ? Is anyone else using this ram? the timings are stock 4-4-3-8, i hope this goes well with my e6600 and p5b-d

Just change the setting to AUTO, switch off, remove old RAM, put in the new stuff, then enter BIOS and set to the appropriate voltage.

My CellShock says 2.1v, and yet on AUTO it set it to 1.9v.

And still booted and was stable!

D9's FTW.

that can work but i would jsut set it to the specified voltage before you change your ram unless you gotta clear your cmos

if you have problems just boot with one stick and change the voltage then replace your other stick and youll be set

I just read a review that said this ram would not post with the p5b-d. It says you need another pair of ram on hand to post and go in and change the voltage to 2.2v and timings to 4-4-3-8. then install the super talent. Problem is i sold my current ram on ebay and need to mail it off, i cant wait til i get this new ram. I guess ill just change the settings before i turn off my mobo and then go a couple days with my computer . I would of bought the ram a week ago but its to hard to pick one out

Don't get the Super Talent anymore, I thought that they had Micron D9s but they no longer put those in them.

So IMO get the G.SKILL 2GB DDR2 800, less expensive and will probably have the same results.

As for the P5B DLX needing RAM that needs to boot at 1.8v? That's not true.

Automatically, (from what I've seen) Asus boards will boot your RAM with the highest timings possible with the lowest voltage possible as well.

I've tried 3 different sets of DD2 RAM in my P5B Deluxe and all 3 booted at 5-5-5-15 with a 1.8v, manually I had to set the settings, it's annoying but I did.
So whoever wrote that review isn't exactly someone with some experience.

i agree with nasgul, the p5b d will boot with some wack timings, mine were allways like 5-6-5-18 or something like that but it would work

and worst case scenario you would jsut remove one stick of ram and itll boot jsut fine off one stick

Well i already bought the super talent before you wrote this reply . But from what ive read about them they seem pretty good. I was thinking of leaving these at the 400mhz with the 4-4-3-8 timings and put my cpu fsb to 400, for 1:1. Should i be doing that, or should i try to pump them both up more, the reviews are saying they get up to ddr2 1000. And if i put my cpu up to 400, could i change the multiplier to x8 because im using stock cooling right now. So make it 400x8 = 3.2ghz with 1:1 ? would that work out on stock cooling........and if i leave the ram at 400mhz could the timings go down from 4-4-3-8. thanks
