EDIT: LOL sorry I forgot the topic said Abit, I read your system specs in your signature and saw Asus, not sure how to do abit exactly.

IF you have two computers you just need one floppy if you have just one computer you need 2 floppys (since the floppy doesn't have enough room for both the updater and boot files).

So is what you do is have a boot disc, boot into DOS. Then either take that floppy out and put the updater files on it with another computer, or have your floppy ready with the files on it and pop it in.

NOTE: This is using AFUDOS.

Then you just simply type in the AFUDOS command. (You can download AFUDOS from Asus's site.)

Check your manual for the command but I'm pretty sure the command is AFUDOS /i<ROMNAME>.ROM

Also note that when I did mine, my BIOS ROM file was more letters than AFUDOS can handle. So I just renamed my ROM file xxx.ROM (easy to remember and its less than 8 characters.)

Good Luck

Install the Abit FlashMenu software, click Flash from File, and then choose the File.

It'll tell you what its doing, and when you reboot you'll have the new BIOS.

You can also click get BIOS from Internet and that'll download and flash you with the latest BIOS

I would not suggest BIOS flashing VIA windows. Although most of the time there is no problem, its not as stable as taking a bit more time and doing it in DOS. Asus has the update utility for windows, I refuse to touch it, AFUDOS ALL THE WAY
