This is pathetic. Watching consumers embrace a robbery of their rights.

This is the unfortunate truth. This also means it's likely that Sony might have to resort to some consumer unfriendly tactics themselves in order to compete.

When I was a teenager (albeit this was quite a while ago), I always looked at what guys in their 20s & 30s thought was cool, versus what TV commercials told me kids my age should like.

Maybe that was out of the norm, but most kids my age tended to think the same way.

IMO, as long as everyone who understands the issues w/ the XB 1 continues discussing them and explaining why "it sucks" (language kids can understand); they'll catch on and won't want it simply because they don't want to look dumb, uncool, or childish (not understanding or caring about what young-adults they try to emulate are doing).

There's also the potential for it to backlash, but kids usually only rebel against what people 50+ tend to dislike; versus wanting to identify or be identified with what people in their 20s & 30s like.

I wonder what they mean by record pre-orders? Does that mean more so than any other console? Or only a record for pre-order through an individual retailer?

Not unsurprisingly Microsoft cancelled their executive interviews at E3.

Next in the news: Microsoft forced by consumer demand to alter the Kinect's design to feature a mechanical on / off switch because obviously nobody trusts software switches anymore (I wonder though, since they announced you can turn off Kinect via software if you can actually physically disconnect it from the console without it telling you have to connect Kinect for it to work).

Just found this article: Xbox One Kinect Can Be Paused or Turned Off But Can't Be Disconnected

Apparently not then. A software switch is as much effective as the big bad wolf telling little red riding hood it won't eat her whilst salivating with the cutlery behind its back. If anybody believes that anything other than unplugging the console from the mains - or better, not buying it, is a good solution, then those people need a lesson or two.

I hope that the people who pre-ordered take the time between now and release to read upon what they will be buying and change their minds.

It's really not just the kids, though. It's just the casual market as a whole. Whether they're 13 or 30, some people just don't care enough to do that much research on a product. Some of them just have more important things to worry about or just aren't that interested.

When I was younger, I honestly couldn't care less about what was driving the system and what were its policies and cared more about the games themselves or simply being able to own the system. Aside from a few people I knew who were into that stuff, this was the case for most of my friends and kids I went to school with. However, things have changed quite a bit since I've been in school and technology plays a much bigger role in peoples' lives these days so I honestly don't know what they care about anymore.

Most of the people pre-ordering have never read about any of these online only requirements, they are the average joes. They just know it is the next xbox and want one.

I live in australia = Vitctoria.

And I haven't seen a Blockbuster for the past 5 years lol
Guess no one rents dvds anymore,,,
I'm mad that I just realized something very ironic about this story.

A: When was the last time Blockbuster was known for ANYTHING gaming related on the same level as a place like Gamestop, or even Amazon?

B: Did anyone else notice what store is posting these numbers? A store that went out of business some time ago here in the states.

C: Doesn't Blockbuster make their money from USED ITEMS? Isn't XBOne blocking USED GAMES? As far as I know, the Xbox One only lets you sell a game to one friend that's been on your list for more than 30 days, he can't re-sell the game, and you can only trade in games from "approved retailers", and developers have the option to charge however much they want in order for someone to play that used game..............doesn't that dig into Blockbuster's profits since that would convince less and less people to even attempt to obtain used titles in the first place?
