At the moment, though, I'm somewhat glad I didn't rush into my build. If the heat and overclocking issues remain prevalent, I will likely be returning my 4770K and going back to Ivy or SB-E.

Is that 4770K from SabrePC?

If you don't mind sharing...what is the batch number of the proc that you rec'ed? Just trying to see who is shipping what.

Yes, it sure is. Of course I don't mind. smile.gif

It is Batch # L312B341.

I probably need to check into that, actually. haha Maybe I got lucky and received one of the good ones.

While they may loose some of that initial market share, they usually make up for it with a more mature BIOS at the time of release...then all those people that bought on launch day get ticked off at their buggy boards and go by a new Asus after they come out. smile.gif

The BIOS interface and the actual BIOS aren't really the same thing. Tweaking the BIOS to perform better with certain memory chips, etc. is what I'm talking about.

It won't take much effort to find posts from guys complaining how certain early releases of their Gigabyte boards, for example, aren't doing this, or aren't doing that.

Here is just one quick example of what it is that I'm talking about. This is in reference to a Gigabyte motherboard.

I can boot using any of the three straps with no issue at all on my Z87X-OC.

Generally I have found that by the time the Asus boards hit the market, many of these types of things have already been fixed.

Yeah because that week delay allowed them to fix so many things lachen.gif

That's exactly what I mean. That's the trade-off...you get it a one, or two, or three weeks later, but with less bugs...hence my "more mature BIOS" comment.

Edit:
Asus knows that most of its hard-core fan boys are going to wait for the ROG boards, or go out and buy an interim with the full intention of coming back and picking up the ROG once they are released. One of the luxiries of being Asus. smile.gif
