AMAZING luck returning 680, now what?

One of the fans on my 680 failed today, causing temps to shoot up. I took it back to Fry's despite having bought it in March.

I was able to talk to manager into issuing store credit for it, after she got off the phone with her supervisor. I'm extremely satisfied with that, even more so since this is Fry's we're talking about.

I'm planning to get a 780 ACX, but I didn't check if it was in stock tonight since the store was closing, and I doubt that they have it ATM. The store credit ($512) has no expiry date.

So, is it worth waiting for the ACX or is the reference cooler alright?

edit: btw, I'm running on Intel HD Graphics 4000 now.

If you are just on air, id say wait for the acx cooler. If you plan on going water later on, just get the reference cooler so you don't have to wait. They all have the same "luck of the draw" overclocking potential anyway. Then again, if they have both options, might as well get the acx even though it costs a little more. Higher out of box core and better cooler (not better looking IMO though).

Yeah the vapor chamber cooler looks pretty sick. Aren't EVGA superclocked cards binned though?

Nope. All luck of the draw save for the minimal overclock the SC models are guaranteed to run at out of the box.

Are the classified/FTW versions going to be binned? is there going to be an ACX version of those?

According to EVGA's GTX 780 landing page, there will be ACX versions of the Classified and FTW coming out soon. As to whether or not they're binned, hard to say in advance.

Yes i have done some moderate overclocking and it's fantastic so far.

My ASIC score is 70.5 if that actually means anything. So far it's surpassing my expectations.

I have got up to 1215mhz core and 6408mhz memory stable for gaming and benching but I'm sure I can manage some more out of it still

As for the temps, I have a m-atx case with average ventilation but the card rarely goes above 72c at load and running for 2+ hours
