Installing new 4770K cpu + z87 motherboard; Have to install 'fresh' OS? what about drivers?

Thread Starter
Can I keep the same OS and just uninstall the old drivers and install the new ones?

Or do I need a fresh install of windows?

My upgrade was:

i7 2600k > i7 4770k
z68 extreme7 gen3 AsRock > z87 MSI gd65

Gear mentioned in this thread:

It is always advised if you change a new motherboard to install a fresh OS as well. Does not matter much with other components

I'd do a fresh install of Windows, as that would eliminate any possibility of old mobo drivers gumming up the works.

You can also just do a sysprep generalize before you swap the motherboard out.  That'll reset all the drivers and let you start over while keeping the programs and settings.
