THem what would be a 3d game?

Yes, they do work differently to accomplish a similar task. So if we're just going to focus on msaa then here.

As stated before, the Radeon does indeed do slightly better than the Geforce. But somehow the Nvidia gpu "can't handle" it. thumb.gif

Now show charts with 8xMSAA

So yet another game where Nvidia does fine. I have more examples to post but all of this is all missing the point.

The point was we had someone stated that Nvidia can't handle msaa. It is generally accepted as true that yes, AMD does do better. But one doing slightly better than the other doesn't mean that the other "can't handle" it because a statement like that is quite simply not the truth.

tomb raider has been patched and with latest drivers , in more recent reviews the HD 7970 Ghz is trouncing the GTX 680 and HD 7970 OC beating GTX 770 OC / GTX 680 OC by > 20%.

http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/06/06/msi_n770_lightning_overclocking_review/3

In games like Hitman Absolution, Max Payne 3, Sleeping Dogs, Tombraider , the HD 7970 Ghz is in a different perf range compared to GTX 680. anything around 20% diff is not same perf.

Hitman Absolution / Max Payne 3
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/61369-nvidia-geforce-gtx-770-2gb-review-7.html

Sleeping Dogs with SSAA
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2013/03/11/asus_hd_7970_directcu_ii_video_card_review/6

the HD 7970 has proven its just better with MSAA and SSAA than GTX 680 / GTX 770.

Here's a snippit from the FXAA discussion within the same review

Now we will look at FXAA versus 4X MSAA. Remember, 4X MSAA was NOT PLYAYBLE on either video card, even at 1920x1200. The performance hit going to 4X MSAA was severe on both video cards.

Also, compare it against a Gigabyte 770 now. Cheaper than a 680 and a 7970ghz, and typically better.

So considering the jump from a 7970 to a 7970ghz in the chart here at 1080p for Crysis 3 at 26 min 35 max to 29 min and 39 max, from a simple bump on the core from 925mhz to 1050 and mem at 1500 - assuming similar scaling my 7970ge at 1200/1600 should be at roughly titan performance for this benchmark. Not bad, not bad at all thumb.gif At the same time - it's a benchmark and though I love my 7970GE, something seems off considering Titan isn't bandwidth limited like gk104, so why it's so close I don't know..
