sata connection

hello guys. rig in sig.

I was looking at GIGABYTE website at my motherboards specs page. It says that 6 sata 3gbs are being controlled from the chipset and the other 2 are being controlled from GIGABYTE SATA2 chip.
I want to move my hdd and cd rom satas to the bottom of the motherboard for the sake of a clean looking system. will it make any performance loss? Will I need to change something in the bios in order to make it run like now? thanks.

If it's just an HDD and DVD drive, I doubt you'd see any performance loss using those ports. You will have to go into the Inegrated Peripherals part of your BIOS, and make sure Onboard SATA/IDE device is enabled, ans set Onboard SATA/IDE ctrl mode to AHCI or IDE, depending on what the current mode of the drive is.

(got all that from the manual - http://download.gigabyte.eu/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-p55-ud3l(us3l)-(tpm)_v2.0_e.pdf)

Pages 25, 48, 50 are the ones of interest. smile.gif

Ok thanks, i connected my hdd and dvd to the two bottom sats connections ( I took out the red sata cable from my haf 932's front i/o panel which was originally made for esata). I turned on the pc and its says; "Loading operation system . . ." For like 5 minutes. I turned off the pc and back on, went into the bios and changed everything from booting from the dvd to the hdd, changed all IDE to AHCI. What am I supposed to do? I took the dvd sata cable out but the system still says this message. Help please!

EDIT: i forgot to put the hdd as first boot priority. Problem solved. But thanks for the reply!
