Sure, but that's just business as usual. New things are always coming out. You can never wait for everything to be out before you pick, so you pick from what is available or soon to be available. If something better comes out later, you either upgrade or say what you have is good enough.
When something is pre-announced, you get the opportunity of deciding if you are willing to wait for it's (usually set) release date instead of getting what is out now. You get a half decent idea of what you will be waiting for, and sometimes even the price. Alright, thats cool enough. I can appreciate a heads up that maybe I shouldn't buy some item because a better options is right around the corner.
Pre-pre-announcements on the other hand are worthless. They tell you nothing about the upcoming item. They don't tell you the item is going to be better, how long you need to wait for it, or what it is going to cost. In some cases they don't even tell you what the item is! At the end of the day I might
end up with the same decision as if it wasn't pre-pre-announced at all, but along the way it creates a state of uncertainty that just doesn't need to exist and doesn't really help anyone, not even those selling the item. Whatever benefit is to be had from the little bit of extra hype is negated by people losing interest due to delays, waiting periods, and general teasing.
