Thanks biggrin.gif

I think I might be getting a Silverstone Strider PSU for this build because full modular and single sleeved cables makes me happy in a way that's no age appropriate. Can keep cables to a minimum whilst still making them look mental with the combs on the motherboard extension.
Pulled an extra day at work this week plus working later so getting a bit more pocket change, not to mention got a second job lined up today that pays like $33/hour and is a decent amount of work so that'll help a lot with the build.

Going down south for a bit with my girlfriend after her university exams in her break so I'll probably sneak in some painting then. Really only need to paint the PCIe brackets, midplate, 2 back supports for the unibody and 5.25" bays because those are the only parts I'll be keeping so it should be easy. Don't know exactly when that will be but it's in early July some time.

Looking at starting to collect parts for this, some of the ones that are more set in stone like the radiator and stuff.
DerComissar, you said you would like to keep the middle clean, how would you plan to do the loop if you weren't gonna tough the midplate? Curious.

EDIT: Should I buy some sleeve and stuff? For like the pump and fans and jazz?
EDIT 2: Also should I choose red as a secondary colour? Could vandal switch, fittings and possibly something else red it up.

In unrelated news, coffee shop got a new espresso machine (Spirit Tripplette) and it's absolutely mental.
Also, if any of you are into Hip Hop I got put onto some pretty gold stuff, so ask about if you want me to extend that to you/have stuff to extend to me biggrin.gif
If you have a look at deafboy's build log, you'll see why he's onboard for TJ builds! He's done some beautiful hand-made aluminum panels, copper tubing, whotta job!thumb.gif
I couldn't begin to approach that level of craftmanship.smile.gif

New door panels are expensive anyway, so it's good if you can do some work on yours to save some cash.
I'll have three main visible tubes showing in the top section, plus the extra small sections for the gpu connection tube and the top of the res. fill tube. I'm still getting some last-minute fittings for those, I'm planning on trying some short Bitspower Crystal Link tubes for them. It would be cool to do it all around with the hard tubes, but I'll stick with Durelene for now.
I've had to transfer the "guts" from my old build, but luckily I was able to cobble-up a working system from old parts for a backup in the meantime.

$33 an hour?! That tempts me to move to Australia!biggrin.gif
But then I'd have to bring the family as well!

That Strider psu sounds good, nice getting pre-sleeved cables. The "combs" are another cool touch from Ricardo, I should have specified that on mine.
Not too much to paint on yours then. I left mine silver since I can't find a decent powder coating shop in my area, and it would cost too much to send it out for the small amount I'd need done.

What I did for the midplate, is I cut out the front section of it, that is under the front bay, so there would be lots of room to pass the rad. and pump tubing through to the bottom section. This way I avoid having to make any holes for tubing through the lighted midplate panel I bought from ColdZero. I didn't want to be mucking that nice glowie plate up! It also helps to hide the tubing going to the bottom rad. and pumps.
I also "eliminated" the front flip-down door, and made an eight-slot front bay. You can see that in my avatar photo, just keep clicking on it to expand the photo to full-size, you can also see where I cut out the front section of the midplate. Out went the usb panel, I don't need it.
This gives me lots of room for the front 240 rad, and the tubing. I was going to use vented front 5.25 plates in the front bay, but I'm looking into getting a custom front bay panel made by Ricardo, if he finds the time to do one!

I'll post some photos when I get the remaining fittings, actually I've got to start some kind of a build log, which I'm not very good at!

The sleeving is up to you, it certainly wouldn't hurt to buy some sleeving "just in case"! I'd like to at least sleeve my vandal switch wires, the D5 pump wires, and maybe the GT's, but that's something I've never done, so I have to see if I want to go there!
I'll admit that I bought some pre-sleeved extensions for some of the psu cables, it's just a lot easier. But you see so many builds here with awesome custom-done sleeving, that it's frustrating!

I guess red would be a highlight to your color scheme, if you want to use that. I went with a white switch, and a white led strip, to go with the white led lighted midplate in mine.
The red parts on my Asus mobo kind of clash, but it's not a big deal.

I do love my coffee, that espresso sounds good. Hip-hop? I guess you could link some to your build log, that would be unique!tongue.gif

Those panels seem like an idea...

Yeah, but that's like 1.5x for weekends which is when I think I'll be working. *shrug*
Ah man, not sure how the family would feel. How 'bout we switch? tongue.gif

Yep, seems solid. Used them before in client builds and they're solid little units. Also not much painting which is nice biggrin.gif

I was thinking of cutting into under the 5.25's and passing tubing through there but it seems less tidy. If I put the res in there I would look okay (like in fakeblood's build), and give you something to look at back there.
Once I get bits for cooling I can move them around and see where I'll put things. I have a 360 and 2 240 radiators in my current build which I might be able to recycle.

There's a fillport cut into the top of the case that's not even in the centre! So I was thinking of putting a 360 radiator with a BitsPower grill up there with no fans, wouldn't even be able to see it. Worth it? I don't want to ruin the exterior of the case but that's already sort of happened.

Please do post some pictures! You can post them here for PM me because I'm curious. Also if you need help running a worklog don't be afraid to ask, I've done lots. PM me if you want me to do some write ups/pictures/naming or whatever.

I think it would complete the build. I don't want ugly wires where no one can see them like in my other builds. Enough of hiding them! I want my OCD to be happy for once tongue.gif
I did that for my past build, total jackpot but there's still unsleeved wires around.

Not a huuuuuuuuuuge fan of white.
I have a all black motherboard sort of thing (Sabertooth) so there's not many things I can match with. Black fittings, black tubing, black case, black parts, black wires but there's no black lighting ;-;

Coffee is good! But not all hip-hop is. Been getting into MMJB (money making jam boys).

Thanks for offering to do my build log for me!biggrin.gif
Just kidding, I'll be fine with that, just wish I took more photos along the way. But when I'm cutting a panel, I just don't feel like stopping to take pretty pictures of the carnage!
I will get some photos up soon, I have posted a few in the TJ07 Owner's Club occasionally.

I did manage to sleeve the D5's today, as I had a small amount of sleeving that I picked up for that some time ago: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
I tried some heatshrink on the ends, but decided it looked better shrinkless. The D5 pump bodies look crappy with the oem stickers on them, I may cover them with some vinyl applique of some sort. Or not, they aren't normally seen anyway.

Fakeblood has another beautiful TJ07 build, that res placement would work fine. And there are many more TJ07 builds here, just at OCN alone. When you start roaming the international forums, it's mind-boggling. Especially for a seven-year old case!

So the 360 rad cutout on top would get rid of the fillport? Plus it would give you a good spot for your 360. I like the Bitspower rad grilles, they look decent. Certainly worth considering.

With that CZ mobo tray, you'll be able to stuff the cables away nicely.
Looks like some red lighting would work well in your build.

I actually wouldn't mind, I enjoy running and maintaining them :3
Yeah that's the hardest part. When you just get into it and you forget all about taking pictures.
I went to your profile and just looked through uploaded pictures, it looks good!

If I were to get some I'd get MDPC-X stuff I'd like to think, that stuff is nice. I wouldn't go heatshrinkless either.

Biiiiiiig time.

Yep, it'd cover the top with a grill. I'll also get some BitsPower passthrough fittings because they look good too. It's just the current plastic one that looks crap.

Not a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge fan on lighting anymore. Think I might be getting the CZ lightbox anyhow.

Again, thanks for your input. smile.gif

Mmm, not only are the cases expensive but filling it with appropriate watercooling bits is expensive frown.gif
Maybe one day you will!

EDIT: Got a little bored so I pulled out the motherboard from my cupboard and toyed around, there's really not anything left that can be used as a secondary colour haha.

The RAM slots obviously get covered up, whole CPU area has a block on/around it and there's the GPU and cables coving most of that heatsink/emblem/badge below the RAM slots, I might just have to go with all black.

Also thinking of sleeving the tubing because it looks pretty mint.

EDIT 2: Was looking around and found a neat idea, although not sure if it's applicable to the TJ07's more unique sidepanel set up.

Whadda'ya think?

Just saw your update. Looking at the last photo of the custom door, is it an all plexiglass, or real glass panel?
There certainly is potential with that idea, but it looks like it could be difficult to do with the existing panels.

And, I just read through your previous TJ07 build. How did I miss seeing that before?!
Great job you did on that one, thumb.gif and you couldn't have picked a nicer guy to name it for.

Looks like you were working with Ricardo long before most of us had even heard of ColdZero, and you had some unique custom panels done elsewhere for it as well. That was neat how you covered-up the front panel led/reset switch holes!

Back to the present, the Sabertooth boards do have a very clean look. As you pointed out, it's going to look all black with everything installed on the board and covered up. The sleeved tubing builds I've seen can look really cool, I guess it depends on the look you want.
I can see why you would want to use MDPC-X sleeving. Nils sleeving is the best, imo.
On a previous order, I picked up a small order of sleeving from CZ, as an afterthought, when I bought some panels from them last year. It seems like quite good stuff, but if I did get more into it, I'd likely be visiting Nils!

I can't say enough good things about the lightbox from Ricardo, he really did an awesome job designing that panel. I'd say to go for it if you are considering one. For me it really makes a TJ07 build. It used to be a very exclusive MurderMod piece, but after it became impossible to get from Charles, I was thrilled when Ricardo started offering them.

I think it's just plexi. Seems like a cool idea but maybe not for the TJ07.
*shrug* always an option.

Thanks biggrin.gif
Thing that really bugged me with that was the photos - they were so bad! Craftsman ship was "ok" but I'm still not happy with it. Red Carbon was a step in the right direction, although now I don't have a camera to take pictures with so :l

Haha, the GPU blackplate was from CZ but I did the other things with help from one of my dad's friends who works with acrylics. Didn't want anything too fancy (and too expensive) so just a few simple pieces of acrylic that were held in by friction. Was still pretty nice and stealthy but overall eh in my eyes.
Also yeah, that sort of worked with my board and was a super simple way.

They do! I'm totally digging it. It could look good just as lack tubing but I can just have things sitting in place to see how it looks (and measure for where I want the cuts in the midplate/lightbox if I get them).
I figure since if I do I might as well go with the best.

He makes quality things, I was super satisfied with my 580 backplates, but I can't order anything until I decide:
ATX or iATX frown.gif

At the moment ATX is winning in my mind by about a 60/40 rate.

Well, perhaps you could start a poll here!
It's funny, when I bought my TJ07 last year, the decision to go IATX was automatic, it was just the only way to go for me. I soon ordered my first round of parts from CPC and CZ, being sure to specify "IATX" where necessary! I never even considered ATX, in fact I purposely ordered the case with no window because of that.

Maybe I was influenced by Charles Murdermod 008, idk, but having the gpu(s) upright and showing through a top window really appealed to me. As long as I could get a lighted midplate as well!

Another thing is that you've already done an ATX TJ07 build, so IATX would be something new for you.
But, it's your decision, and there are pros and cons to both layouts. I usually have my cases to the right side of me, on or beside my desk, and IATX will screw that up for me now!
I'll have to get used to viewing and opening the right-side of the case.

Also, in your case (pardon the pun) since you already have a window in the left panel, it would make things easier to stick with ATX.

Decisions, decisions!biggrin.gif

I think ATX would make the modding side of things better and I could utilise rather than repair most of what the previous owner has done to the case. I would start a poll but as far as I know you can't remove them once they're done and that seems untidy.

iATX has always seemed neat to me but it has just as much pull as any other orientation. Plus I think it's nice going from midplate to GPU to CPU as that sort of goes from large to small and makes me OCD happy. Only problem is that dang PSU backplate which is not longer in stock.

My girlfriend says iATX would be neat because it's different, but almost everyone that mods their TJ that I can see goes iATX so would it really be that different? tongue.gif
To which she responds: "Oh." leaving it up to me again.

Ah well! I'll get it sorted eventually.

I've reached another dilemma. I think a XSPC dual 5.25" res/pump combo (to be particular, the new black revision where I can put my D5 in it) would look nifty in the top, but it leaves that big hole in the top.

It leans me towards getting the unibody powdercoated so I can plug up the fill port and the small holes in the bottom (which I have NO idea why they are there) and make it all purrdy again.
Nothing too drastic, probably just a new lick of matte black and making the entire front clean. Manufacture some sort of plate to take over the 5.25" and 3.5" bays and the front reset and LED holes. Get that plate welded/bonded in, smoothed and then all painted the same color so it blends.

Honestly not sure how that would go because of the texture of the TJ but I can ask around.
Thoughts? I think it would look mad clean.

Also, if I do get a bay res there will be a long piece of tubing somewhere; either going from the CPU to the res or the CPU to the midplate. The plus side of getting a dual res is I can put a 240 down the bottom too and have them pipe up from the 480 into the res/pump, down to the 240 and then into the midplate.

I would like both holes to be in the midplate to be level, if possible for them to be next to eachother.

Also might be going down south on the 3rd so I can paint bits then and have a helper smile.gif

I'll crack open photoshop and try to work out/up some things.

Stay tuned,

-f.
